Kit agreed that Bette and Tina could not be happier with their choice for Angie’s nanny, which was another reason that getting involved with Angus would be risky. If things didn’t work out, she’d still have to see him. However, she was sure that it wouldn’t go any further than an infatuation.

“You’re right. I do have my drinking under control. But there is something that you don’t know and won’t be reading about on social media.”

“Whatever it is, I can handle it.”

“Well maybe you can, but I can’t.”

Angus was surprised to see Kit on the verge of tears. “Baby, just please tell me. It can’t be that bad.”

Hoping her next confession would be a deterrent she dropped the bomb. “I’m going through Menopause.”

Kit said it like it was a death sentence which made him laugh. “It’s not funny” she scolded him like a child.

“I’m sorry. No, it’s not funny but it’s also natural Kit. So, you’ll be moody sometimes, and have hot flashes and cry for no reason. That doesn’t scare me Kit.”

Angus didn’t dare bring up his mother considering Kit’s sensitivity to the age thing, but he’d been around her and his aunts when they went through the ‘change’ so he had an inkling of what it meant in a relationship but his father and uncles had survived it and they were still happily married so he figured how bad could it be.

“What about sex?”

“Are you saying you want to have sex with me?”

“I’m saying it might affect my sex drive.”

“I’ve read where some women actually have increased sex drive and more satisfying orgasms.”

“I’m not having this conversation with you.”

“Kit, there is nothing wrong with having the conversation, we can cross that bridge when we get to it, but we won’t get anywhere unless you agree to go out with me.”

Kit expected Angus to run the other way when she mentioned menopause but he didn’t so she gave into her feelings. Maybe after kissing all those toads, she’d found her prince.

“OK but don’t say I didn’t warn you.”

Angus grinned like a kid in a candy store and kissed her softly on the lips.

“You won’t regret it. You’ll see Kit. We are meant to be together.”

Kit was done arguing. It was getting late and she was ready to close shop. Angus packed up his guitar and turned off the amp and microphones while Kit got her purse from the office, then they headed out.

“By the way I loved your song. If you’re serious about recording it, I still have some connections in the biz.”

“Will you record it with me. I wrote it for you?”

“You know I’m not recording anymore. I have a business to run.”

“Then let’s try it out at Karaoke night. We’ll let the audience decide.”

“Do you ever take no for an answer?”

He just smiled an put his arms around her waist as they continued walking to her car. Once she was settled in the driver’s seat, he gave her a chaste kiss on the cheek. “Good night love. I’ll call you tomorrow.”

Kit sat in her car and watched Angus’ ass in his tight-fitting jeans as he walked to his motorcycle. She suddenly got a hot flash and turned on the air full blast. “Shit, what am I getting myself into” she laughed.

Angus hoisted the guitar bag onto his back and got on the bike. He signaled for Kit to go ahead of him then he followed her out of the parking lot.
