Bette:  This is the time where you will be becoming the woman you are going to be. You are forming the foundation for your career. You will establish friendships and acquaintances which will last a life time. And it is possible you will meet your life partner. You have always had friends and you will meet and make new friends.  Just remember, every person you meet is in the same boat as you are. They are living away from home for the first time. They are making their way into adulthood. They are creating the foundation for their future as well. And the best rule to follow is to treat others like you want to be treated.  If you want to be heard, you must listen. I would also tell you that sometimes it is easier to learn things if you form study groups. That was the only way I could get through my chemistry and physics classes. Sometimes your peers do better if they are assisting others in certain subjects. And you must realize that every person has a story to tell. They have a family and a background and their background may not be like yours. Their beliefs may not align with yours. And even if you disagree, you must be respectful of their beliefs. Never belittle others because of their beliefs. And if their beliefs are offensive to you, then do not associate with them. And if you feel you need to prank someone, make sure that no one gets hurt in the process. Keep private those things they wish to be private and respect their boundaries. Do not assume you have permission to use their things. If you wish to borrow something, always ask for permission and always return that which you borrowed as soon as you can. Help others where you can. Thank those who give you help. It’s a big world out there and its full of wonder and beauty. But it’s also has its dirt and con-artist. And you have to determine who is what. If something does not feel right, you need to stop and reconsider your actions.

Bette:  Let’s go downstairs and see if we can help Mama T in the kitchen. I think we are going to have dinner soon. Maybe we can do some research tonight.  I think me and your Mama want to make a few lists and get organized. We have a lot to get done this week.
