Chapter 1 – List and More List
Angie: Yeah, maybe I need to start that driver’s handbook.
When they got downstairs, Kit, Sonny and Daniel had arrived from the other house.
Sonny: Here are the keys to the house and the keys to your SUV. The garage doors are closed and the door to the garage is locked. We are out in the driveway, packed and ready to go.
Bette: You are going to have dinner with us aren’t you. I think Tina is preparing food for you.
Kit: Yes, we will stay for dinner, but we are leaving right after. I want to get home.
Tina started putting the plates of food on the table.
Tina: Oh, we understand. There is no place like home. But we so appreciate you being here this week and doing all you did for us.
Bette: I know Alice and Lynn appreciate you taking care of the girls from time to time.
Kit: They are truly two sweet cute girls. I believe that Allyson is going to be a handful. She is a little wild like Alice.
Tina: I got the impression that she was somewhat demanding for attention.
Sonny: And what an imagination. She said she wanted a real live baby hippopotamus for her birthday.
Angie: Oh my god. Did she really?
Bette: Maybe she will settle for something a little smaller.
Tina set out a beer for Bette and herself and asked Angie if she would like one. Angie indicated that she would like to taste it first. Tina poured a small amount from her beer in a glass for Angie to taste. She did not like it, so she decided that would pass on one tonight.
Tina: Beer is one of those drinks that many people have to acquire a taste for. Some never learn to like it.
Angie: I think I’ll just pass on it tonight.
Daniel said that he learned how to wash clothes today, how to fold clothes and how to make beds properly. He had really enjoyed spending some alone time with his Aunt Kit and Uncle Sonny. Having lived in New York all of his life this was a rare opportunity. The fact that Kit had had a career in music fascinated him and that Sonny was a disk jockey in several night clubs and had a vast knowledge of music as well. They spent their day doing chores and talking and getting to know each other in a more personal manner. Daniel was forming a closer familial bond with his aunt and uncle. And they with him.
