    Summary:
    Chapter 10

    Bette smiles and tightens her hold around her.

    (Bette) I have a lot of questions

    She runs the tip of her nose up Tina’s neck.

    (Bette) But we both know there’s no way you’d answer them

    Tina smiles and pulls her closer, tightening her hold around Bette’s back.

    (Tina) And is that a problem for you?

    Tina draws back and looks to her, and Bette smiles and shakes her head.

    (Bette) Strangely, no, it’s not

    Tina smiles and moves her hand through Bette’s hair.

    (Tina) Great

    Bette smiles as Tina pulls her into a kiss. They draw back and smile at each other, and Bette leans her head to one side.

    (Bette) And how much do you know about me?

    (Tina smiles) Very little

    She runs her hands down Bette’s arms.

    (Tina) Your history obviously, your past

    (Bette) Did you learn anything from accessing my laptop?

    Tina raises her eyebrows and they smile at each other.

    (Tina) Not a lot. I didn’t really have a lot of time

    (Bette smiles) Because your victim was asleep right next to you?

    Tina gives a small laugh and shrugs.

    (Tina) Yeah

    Tina continues smiling at her, and then shrugs.

    (Tina) I know a name

    Bette nods, and Tina leans her head to one side.

    (Tina) It’s not yours though, is it?

    Bette smiles and shakes her head.

    (Bette) No. I haven’t used my actual name in a very long time

    Tina smiles and nods, examining her for a moment.

    (Tina) Could I have learned more, if I’d taken the time to look?

    (Bette shrugs) You could have learned about some of my more recent schemes. That was my work laptop

    Tina nods.

    (Tina) You’ve moved on to other things have you? Not just swindling socialites on vacation now?

    Bette smiles and shrugs. She looks at Tina for another moment.

    (Bette) Is it important to you to know more about that?

    Tina looks at her, and then slowly shakes her head.

    (Tina) No, it’s not. At least not right now

    Bette smiles and nods.

    (Bette) OK

    They fall into silence for a while, moving together to the music and holding the other close. Tina draws back and looks to her. She reaches towards her and tucks a curl behind Bette’s ear.

    (Tina) Why are you like this? Why do you do what you do?

    Bette raises her eyebrows and looks back at her, and then smiles.

    (Bette) I likely have some sort of undiagnosed personality disorder

    Tina laughs and Bette smiles as she watches her.

    (Bette) What about you?

    Tina looks back to her and they smile at each other. Tina then raises her eyebrows and shrugs, and Bette smiles.

    (Bette) There’s not some event from your childhood that you can attribute your career choice to?

    Tina smiles.

    (Tina) Not at all, my childhood was boring as fuck

    Bette laughs and they smile at each other.

    Tina steps closer towards her and Bette moves her arms further around her back, and they both smile into a kiss.


    Later, they make their way back to their hotel and take the elevator together. They stop at Tina’s floor and both look to the other. Tina nods towards the door.

    (Tina) Are you coming?

    They smile at each other. Bette looks at her for a moment and Tina looks back at her curiously.

    (Bette) You must have started to trust me, and to believe me that I don’t have an agenda?

    Tina smiles and examines her for a moment.

    (Tina) Well I wouldn’t go that far, but I’m willing to take the risk

    They smile at each other and both step out of the elevator.

    2. I believe Bette is in this for something other than a financial reward. I think that she is incredibly attracted to Tina and wants her in her life. But, the only way that can happen is to put the stolen money aside and just be with Tina in the moment. No plans, no objectives, just enjoy what is and hope there will be more. And when Tina feels that Bette is not a threat, she too will want the same thing.

      Great story… thank you for the posting.

    3. Interesting turn of events.

      Still feel that Tina is holding back and only in this for the short term.

      Hopefully Bette can convince her to consider them being together.

    4. I’m wondering how committed Tina is to develop a relationship with Bette. She doesn’t appear to want to provide any info to Bette while Bette seems to be interested in starting a relationship.

      Just wondering.
