    Chapter 12

    Alice gives her a pointed look.

    (Alice) I’m always focused on that

    Shane smiles, and Alice has a sip of her drink.

    (Alice) But yeah, I could do with the extra time to put into it I guess

    She looks back to Shane.

    (Alice) What are you going to do?

    Shane raises her eyebrows and shrugs.

    (Shane) I don’t know. Paint something original maybe?

    Dana turns and smiles at her.

    (Dana) Yeah? That’s been a while since you’ve done that

    Shane smiles and nods.

    (Shane) Yeah, too long


    Later, Bette, Alice and Dana are sitting at the table watching the band. Dana glances around the room.

    (Dana) Where does Shane keep disappearing to?

    Bette nods towards the bar.

    (Bette) She’s doing birthday shots with the barstaff

    (Alice sighs) Jesus, again?

    She turns to look at Shane at the bar.

    (Alice) She makes us come here to see this shitty band and then ditches us

    (Bette smiles) It’s her birthday Al, let her have some fun

    They all watch Shane for a moment, standing with her arm around one of the staff and leaning her weight into them.

    (Dana) I think she’ll be sleeping on one of our couches tonight

    Alice raises her eyebrows and shakes her head.

    (Alice) Well not mine, I’ve got a bunch of stuff to do tomorrow and I don’t want to be stepping over her all morning

    They settle back and watch the stage again. Dana looks over at Alice.

    (Dana) Oh did you get my email?

    Alice nods and taps her on the arm.

    (Alice) Oh yeah, I did, thanks. I haven’t looked over it all yet but what I saw looks great

    Dana nods and looks back to the stage. Bette looks over at them.

    (Bette) What’s this?

    (Alice) Dana helped me out with some of the research for an article I’m writing

    Dana looks to her.

    (Dana) Some of the research?

    Alice shrugs and picks up her drink, and Dana shakes her head as she focuses back on the band.

    (Bette) You’re writing another article?

    (Alice nods) Yeah, and this time they actually approached me . They’re giving me a shot at something serious too

    Alice shrugs and Bette smiles at her.

    1. Hummm…. so Bette is going to have Dana look for Tina. What is Shane’s role in this? Not sure why Bette wanted her in on the conversation as she appears to really not to be tracking what is going on.

      The one thing that Bette knows is that Tina’s good friend is Helena Peabody. After all Bette robbed Helena at some point in the past. The probability is that Tina and Helena are linked in some form or fashion. So finding out who Tina is will surely be through Helena…. maybe? So if you can find Helena and track her travels and activities, you might be able to find Tina.

    2. Hmm, it looks like there are going to be surprises with what Dana discovers. Maybe Tina will result from the competition.It’s funny that Bette and Tina didn’t even exchange names this time. It’s getting very, very interesting.

      What type of thief is she exactly?
      Hasn’t put together it was Helena she robbed or has she?
      Will the thief be there in August?

    4. So interested in this story, please don’t abandon it. We need to see where this thief attraction is going to lead Bette and Tina. What connections do Tina and Helena have…is Helena the master thief. Will Bette and Tina continue to see each other. I do appreciate Tina returning Bette’s watch and jewelry.
