    Chapter 12

    (Bette) That’s great Al

    (Alice smiles) Thanks, yeah, it’s a profile on a few Americans held in overseas prisons. I needed a whole lot of information on similar cases over the years and I didn’t know where to start

    She taps Dana on the arm.

    (Alice) Dana’s a total whiz with this stuff though. Took her no time

    Alice has a sip of her drink and then looks to Dana.

    (Alice) I don’t know how you even find this shit, I tried and couldn’t come up with anything

    Dana looks over at her.

    (Dana) It’s not hard if you know where to look. I can show you the databases I used so you can do it yourself next time

    Alice waves her hand dismissively.

    (Alice) Nah, I’ll leave it to you

    Dana sighs, and Alice smiles and shrugs.

    (Alice) You’re so good at it


    A while later, Shane arrives back at the table and sits down heavily next to Bette. Bette looks over at Alice and Dana, who are involved in an animated exchange across the table. She then taps Shane’s arm with the back of her hand, leaning towards her and speaking quietly.

    (Bette) I’m going to ask Dana to work it out for me

    Shane looks over at her and frowns.

    (Shane) What?

    (Bette) Work out what she’s up to I mean

    Shane’s frown deepens.

    (Shane) Who?

    Bette sighs and reaches for a water glass, placing it in front of Shane.

    (Bette) Santorini

    Shane raises her eyebrows.

    (Shane) Oh right, yeah, that’s a good idea

    Shane yawns and settles further back in her seat.

    (Bette) We can go back to my apartment from here, after we drop Alice home

    (Shane) Sounds good Bette, but I think I should just go home

    Bette shakes her head.

    (Bette) No, you’re coming, I want you there too

    Bette picks up the glass and hands it to her.

    (Bette) Have a water, you’ll be fine


    Later, Bette, Dana and Shane arrive at Bette’s apartment. Shane walks in front of them down the hallway, stumbling along as she goes. She stops and leans on the wall and looks back to Bette.

    (Shane) Bette, I’m really drunk, can I just go to bed?

    1. Hummm…. so Bette is going to have Dana look for Tina. What is Shane’s role in this? Not sure why Bette wanted her in on the conversation as she appears to really not to be tracking what is going on.

      The one thing that Bette knows is that Tina’s good friend is Helena Peabody. After all Bette robbed Helena at some point in the past. The probability is that Tina and Helena are linked in some form or fashion. So finding out who Tina is will surely be through Helena…. maybe? So if you can find Helena and track her travels and activities, you might be able to find Tina.

    2. Hmm, it looks like there are going to be surprises with what Dana discovers. Maybe Tina will result from the competition.It’s funny that Bette and Tina didn’t even exchange names this time. It’s getting very, very interesting.

      What type of thief is she exactly?
      Hasn’t put together it was Helena she robbed or has she?
      Will the thief be there in August?

    4. So interested in this story, please don’t abandon it. We need to see where this thief attraction is going to lead Bette and Tina. What connections do Tina and Helena have…is Helena the master thief. Will Bette and Tina continue to see each other. I do appreciate Tina returning Bette’s watch and jewelry.
