Chapter 14
(Angelica shrugs) I don’t know. Something from when you were a couple
Tina nods and reaches for her water glass.
(Angelica) Something romantic maybe?
Angelica thinks for a moment.
(Angelica) Like what did you do on your last anniversary?
Tina chokes on a sip of water. She recovers after a moment and smiles awkwardly at Angelica, who frowns back at her.
Tina clears her throat and then continues.
(Tina) It didn’t sound the other night like you’d be very interested in what we were like as a couple
(Angelina shrugs) I’m a bit interested
Tina smiles.
(Tina) Well, we weren’t a trainwreck
Angelica looks at her.
(Angelica) No?
Tina shakes her head and smiles.
(Tina) No
(Angelica) So, you were happy once?
(Tina smiles) So happy
Angelica looks at her for a moment.
(Angelica) So, what happened?
Tina shrugs.
(Tina) That I can’t tell you
(Angelica) You don’t know either?
Tina shakes her head.
(Angelica) You should ask, they’d probably tell you
(Tina laughs) Probably
Tina looks over at her.
(Tina) I haven’t really wanted to know
Tina shrugs again and Angelica watches her for a moment.
(Angelica) Yeah, I know what you mean. I’m not really sure I want to know either
Tina has a forkful of her salad and then looks at her.
(Tina) So, you really think we hate each other?
Angelica looks up at her and shrugs.
(Angelica) Kind of I guess
Tina nods.
(Angelica) Only when you’re together though
(Tina frowns) What do you mean?
(Angelica) Well, sometimes when you talk about each other it doesn’t seem like you hate each other at all
Tina continues frowning as she listens.
(Angelica) And neither of you ever let me complain about the other
Tina raises her eyebrows.
(Tina) We defend each other?
(Angelica nods) Yeah, all the time actually. It’s annoying
Tina smiles.
(Angelica) But yeah, when you’re together it’s so fucking cold
Angelica has a sip of water and looks at Tina out of the corner of her eye. Tina puts down her cutlery and raises an eyebrow at her.
(Tina) I imagine this is the point where I tell you to watch your language
Angelica puts her glass down and looks back at her.
(Angelica) No, you’re pretty cool about swearing actually

Such a brilliant concept – conversations between the past, present, and future. Sprinkled with a little laughter and tears.
It’s nice to pretend sometimes, i agree with Angie.
Glad Angie came to see Tina and them talking a bit about the past and future.
I am still so curious what happened between Bette & Tina that they acted so hostile to each other and why was Tina crying a lot?
Love this story!
So love this Story I am hanging on your every word!
Looking forward to the next Post

I think this is a good first step for Angie and Tina. It has to be really awkward for Angie to be dealing with a parent whom you have lived with and known all of your life and has no memory of anything about you and your life together. Nor does she have any memory of anything else that has occurred for the last 15 years. How to you communicate with someone like that whom you love dearly and and you know she loves you? And as for Tina, she is in that place of being drawn to Angie and want to know her and yet she does not want to make the situation more stressful for Angie or for Bette. Tina uses her common sense and instincts to make her way through this situation yet knowing there are land mines of unknown magnitude everywhere. And Bette and Tina are dealing with a 12 year old child. And both want only the best for Angie… and everyone is in the dark as to what that is. The one thing that is true about Bette universally in every story told: Bette will never deny Angie and Tina time together. I also think that Angie’s comment that neither of her mothers would allow Angie to diminish the character of the other parent with demeaning comments or discussions even though they were no longer a couple. That was huge… not all divorced parents conduct themselves in that manner..
Thanks for the chapter…
