    Chapter 15

    The next morning, Tina’s house. Tina is making a coffee in her kitchen and answers her cell.

    (Tina) Hey baby

    (Bette smiles) Hey, you’re up early, I thought I might be leaving a message

    (Tina sighs) I can’t seem to sleep in anymore. Everything OK?

    (Bette) Well, I managed to shift my meetings this morning so I don’t need to be in until after lunch, I was wondering if you wanted to do something?

    (Tina) That sounds great baby, if you’re sure you can manage it

    (Bette smiles) Yes, it’s fine. You’ll be coming from Alice’s?

    (Tina) Ah, no actually, I’m at my house. I’m staying here now

    (Bette) Oh. How are you finding it?

    (Tina) Still strange, but spending yesterday here with Angie has helped me to see it as more of a home I guess

    Bette smiles.

    (Tina) Well, it’s early, do you want to just head here? We can work out what we’re doing?

    (Bette) Ah, actually let’s meet somewhere

    Tina stops for a moment and then smiles.

    (Tina) You wouldn’t be avoiding being alone with me would you baby?

    (Bette smiles) Honestly? Yes, that’s exactly what I’m doing

    Tina laughs.

    (Bette) I’m finding it increasingly difficult to hold my resolve around you, and I’ve noticed you seem to be slipping up pretty regularly now

    (Tina smiles) Sorry baby

    (Bette) Mmmm

    Tina smiles.

    (Tina) I’ll admit I’ve lost a bit of motivation in that regard

    (Bette sighs) Yes, well me too to be honest

    Tina smiles.

    (Tina) So, you think best not spend the morning alone together at my house?

    (Bette) Best not

    Tina smiles.

    (Tina) With my bed just over there

    Bette smiles.

    (Bette) Tee

    (Tina smiles) OK

    There is a silent moment as both take a breath.

    (Tina) So, where am I meeting you?

    (Bette) Well I’ll be spending the afternoon cooped up in meeting after meeting. How would you feel about a walk? And we can stop somewhere for lunch?

    (Tina smiles) Sure. I haven’t been to Venice Beach yet. We could walk from there? Have lunch in Santa Monica?

    (Bette smiles) OK


    They meet near the Venice Beach boardwalk and meander along together, Tina enjoying taking in the atmosphere, which feels familiar to her despite the many changes she notices in the area. They hold hands and chat away to each other as they walk.

    2. Okay, Tina is now threading on the edges of seeking the information of where and why they are where they are now. It is obvious that Tina and Bette still are in love with each other… and in the current life Tina is not happy with her current life and would like to get Bette back into her life. But what happened to break the two apart? I get the feeling that Tina initiated the split between the two? And sense Angie sees a great deal of animosity between the two with no memory of happiness, this being apart has gone on for a long time. You know that it is hard to repair that which you do not know is broken…. sooner or later, Tina has to face what their real history is…. I just hope she and Bette can find a path back together.

    3. Oh, we’re edging closer to what really happened when it all fell apart. I really hope their loving time together and the reminder of the best memories they had back then will reframe that devastating breakup and that they will both see it and all the ugly things that happened afterwards from a different perspective. Here’s hoping Bette and Tina’s enduring love for each other will eventually win and they will find a way back to each other despite all the hurt and pain they’ve gone through.     5. I wonder how close Tina is to facing her “fear” of why she & Bette had come to the point where animosity became their 1st option when dealing with one another. Somebody will rip the bandage off and reveal whassup . . . I just haven’t figured out who.

      This is such an intriguing story.

      Anyway, “playful” Tina may be able to wear cautious Bette down in time, so that the past can be discussed, grieved over and put to BED.
