Chapter 14
(Tina) I’ll talk to your Mom, we can work out some times
(Angelica nods) OK
Tina turns back towards the cupboard and then stops and looks at her again.
(Tina) Do I usually call you baby?
Angelica nods.
(Tina smiles) Just checking. It keeps coming out so I figured I do
Angelica smiles.
(Angelica) I don’t like you calling me Angelica though
(Tina frowns) Really? I don’t usually?
Angelica shakes her head.
(Angelica) Never. Or at least not to me, not even when you’re cross
(Tina) So Angie then?
(Angelica nods) Angie, Ange, baby
Angelica shrugs.
(Angelica) Probably not baby so much if you’re cross
(Tina smiles) Right
She takes a seat opposite Angelica and speaks to her as she pours the tea.
(Tina) Did you want to do something today? Or we could stay here? Make some lunch and put a movie on?
(Angelica) That sounds good but could we maybe go home and do that there?
Tina puts down the teapot and looks at her.
(Tina) Oh
Tina nods and reaches for her phone.
(Tina) OK, well let me call your Mom back and make sure she doesn’t mind us being there without her
(Angelica frowns) I don’t mean there, I mean your house
Tina raises her eyebrows.
(Tina) Oh
They look at each other.
(Tina) It’s funny, I wasn’t thinking of that as your home, but I guess it is?
(Angelica nods) Yeah
(Tina smiles) Well OK then, let’s do that
They finish their tea and then make the drive over to Tina’s house, stopping at a market on the way so Tina can stock their fridge.
When they arrive Tina gets started on making their lunch while Angelica heads to her bedroom, returning after a while to help with the meal preparation. They sit down together, diagonally opposite one another at the island bench, and eat in silence for a while before Tina turns to her.
(Tina) Was there anything in particular you wanted to talk about with me today? Or ask me about?
Angelica moves her food around on her plate and Tina watches her and waits for her response. Angelica eventually looks up and meets her eyes.
(Angelica) Can you tell me something from back then?
(Tina) What do you want to know?

Such a brilliant concept – conversations between the past, present, and future. Sprinkled with a little laughter and tears.
It’s nice to pretend sometimes, i agree with Angie.
Glad Angie came to see Tina and them talking a bit about the past and future.
I am still so curious what happened between Bette & Tina that they acted so hostile to each other and why was Tina crying a lot?
Love this story!
So love this Story I am hanging on your every word!
Looking forward to the next Post

I think this is a good first step for Angie and Tina. It has to be really awkward for Angie to be dealing with a parent whom you have lived with and known all of your life and has no memory of anything about you and your life together. Nor does she have any memory of anything else that has occurred for the last 15 years. How to you communicate with someone like that whom you love dearly and and you know she loves you? And as for Tina, she is in that place of being drawn to Angie and want to know her and yet she does not want to make the situation more stressful for Angie or for Bette. Tina uses her common sense and instincts to make her way through this situation yet knowing there are land mines of unknown magnitude everywhere. And Bette and Tina are dealing with a 12 year old child. And both want only the best for Angie… and everyone is in the dark as to what that is. The one thing that is true about Bette universally in every story told: Bette will never deny Angie and Tina time together. I also think that Angie’s comment that neither of her mothers would allow Angie to diminish the character of the other parent with demeaning comments or discussions even though they were no longer a couple. That was huge… not all divorced parents conduct themselves in that manner..
Thanks for the chapter…
