    A short while later, Bette enters and scans the room for Tina. She doesn’t immediately spot her and is reaching for her phone in her bag when her eyes land on Alice, Shane and Dana sitting at a table across the room. She makes her way over. (Bette smiles) Hey, I didn’t know you were


    A short while later, Bette enters and scans the room for Tina. She doesn’t immediately spot her and is reaching for her phone in her bag when her eyes land on Alice, Shane and Dana sitting at a table across the room. She makes her way over.

    (Bette smiles) Hey, I didn’t know you were coming here tonight

    They all smile at her.

    (Dana) A last minute change of plans

    (Bette) Well I’m glad

    She smiles as she sits down and reaches for a menu. Alice turns to her.

    (Alice) Have you checked out Kit’s new waitress?

    Bette looks up from the menu and frowns.

    (Bette) Ah, no

    Alice looks around the room.

    (Alice) I’m not sure where she got to. You’ll like her though

    Bette gives Shane a confused look, and Shane smiles and shrugs in response.

    (Alice) Oh there she is, she’s behind the bar now

    She hits Bette on the arm.

    (Alice) She’s your type, go get us a round

    Bette looks over at Alice.

    (Bette) You’re being really weird

    Alice sighs and gestures towards the bar.

    (Alice) Porter, just go get us a fucking round already

    Bette frowns.

    (Bette) Al, I don’t want to check out the waitress. What’s wrong with you?

    Alice rolls her eyes.

    (Alice) Oh for fuck’s sake

    She reaches for Bette’s chin and turns her head towards the bar. Bette frowns in annoyance, and her face then softens as she sees Tina taking someone’s order at the bar.

    (Alice sighs) There we go. I was trying to be cute, but fuck you make things difficult

    Bette smiles as she watches Tina.

    (Shane) I’d get over there if I were you, she’s pretty popular

    Bette looks over at Shane, and Shane smiles and raises her eyebrows.

    (Shane) I’m not kidding

    (Dana nods) Very popular

    Bette glances between them and then stands and makes her way to the bar.

    Bette stands in line as Tina takes orders from a group in front of her. They meet eyes and hold each other’s gaze for a long moment, both smiling. As Tina steps to one side to make a round of cocktails, Bette overhears the discussion beside her which is focused completely on Tina – her hair, her dress, her body, speculation about her relationship status. Bette gives the group a long glare as she moves towards Tina, and Tina smiles at her as she moves to stand in front of her.

    1. No no it can’t end this way. But i agree with Bette that she shouldn’t contact Tina, let Tina contact Bette and stop running away. They are clearly in love with each other and i don’t know why Tina is so against commitment and a relationship but i hope she will think about it hard and reach out to Bette. It would break my heart if Bette is going to move on.

      Looking forward to the next chapter.

    3. This is Tina’s panic and her reaction to her own feelings for Bette. So she calls it off. Okay. I cannot imagine that Tina is really happy with her decision. I cannot imagine that she does not fall asleep every night without thinking about Bette. Time for Tina to decide if she is really happy with a series of meaningless relationship for the rest of her days or something meaningful which she obviously has with Bette. Bette should not contact Tina. If she does not hear from Tina within a month or so, then sit down and write her a letter expressing how much she enjoyed their time together. Then say good bye and wish her well. Something short, sweet and to the point. Perhaps this will give Bette closure on this episode in her life.
