Chapter 19 – The Wilkins and the Prestons

Bette: You just need to take a deep breath and think a moment before you respond. We want to hear what you have to say. But you still need to respect us as your parents. Now, did you and John David get enough sleep last night?

Daniel: Yes, we went to bed about midnight and we got up about 7:00 this morning.

Tina: Well, if you are feeling tired or that you did not get enough sleep, perhaps you should consider a nap for a couple of hours and then get up and swim?

    Daniel: I’ll think about it.

John David: Actually, that sounds like a good idea. I almost fell asleep during the movie last night. An hour or two of sleep would make Monday go easier.

Bette: Well, Tina and I may take a nap. We have been cooking all morning and we don’t often get a chance to get a little more rest. If we do, you guys just need to stay on the property until we get up. Swim if you like, play some pool or whatever. We should be up around 3. If you need anything, call us on your cell.

Daniel: We will probably take a nap too.

John David: Oh good. I was hoping you would say that. These are great sandwiches. And the fries are wonderful.

After lunch, Bette and Tina cleaned up the kitchen quickly and then went upstairs and retired to their room for a nap. They set the alarm for 2:30.

They got up and quickly dressed in some casual clothes and went and put the pork chops in the oven to slowly cook.  The then went to set up the Lanai for dinner and for entertaining. There would be six adults and three young people. Tina set up the portable bar with soft drinks, beer, wine and ice. She then went inside and began to make a tray of hor-d’oevres. She would make some dip, some cut up vegetables, fruits, cheese and crackers.

Bette: Wow, you are doing this up right, aren’t you?

Tina:  I just want to provides a light snack to tide people over until dinner. I do not like to serve alcohol without a little something to eat.

Bette: So how do you think this is going go?
