Bette laughs.
(Bette) It all equally applies to me
Tina smiles.
(Tina) So, the frustration of that situation. Being stuck on each other with no avenue to reconcile. You think that all boils over into how we’ve been treating each other?
Bette nods.
(Bette) Yes, that rings true for me
Tina sighs.
(Tina) Yeah, me too I think
They sit in silence for a moment, both gathering their thoughts.
(Bette) There’s something else I’d like to ask you
Tina examines her for a moment and then smiles.
(Tina) That look makes me nervous
Bette smiles at her and then takes a breath and holds her gaze.
(Bette) What are your feelings towards me?
Tina raises her eyebrows and looks back at her.
(Tina) Are you asking if I’m still in love with you?
Bette takes another breath and continues looking at her. After a moment Tina reaches out and takes her hand, looking down towards them for a moment before raising her eyes to Bette’s.
(Tina) Yes, I’m still in love with you. That’s never changed for me. And never will I suspect
They smile at each other. Bette leans her head to one side and looks at her.
(Bette) Are we serious about this? About trying again?
Tina sits back and leans her elbow on the back of the couch, resting her head against her hand and smiling at her. Bette smiles back at her.
They both have a sip of wine.
(Bette) Do you think we should talk about risks?
(Tina) You mean if it didn’t work out?
Bette nods.
(Tina) OK
They sit in silence for a moment before Bette turns to her.
(Bette) We could make things worse between us
(Tina laughs) Could we? How much worse could it get?
(Bette smiles) It could be worse
Tina has a sip of wine and then looks over at her with an eyebrow raised.
(Tina) It’s been pretty bad
Bette laughs and they smile at each other.
(Bette) I think despite everything, we’ve always had each other’s backs when it comes to Angie. We’ve never undermined each other. We could lose that
(Tina smiles) I can’t imagine that ever happening
Bette smiles at her.
(Tina) And regardless, it’s worth the risk for me
(Bette smiles) Yes OK, me too
They smile at each other. Tina then frowns and sighs.
(Tina) And what about Angie?
(Bette sighs) Yes, I guess that is a risk. That she’d get used to us being together and then be devastated if it ended again
They both have a sip of wine and Bette looks to her.
(Bette) I also don’t think that’s reason enough not to try though
Tina looks at her for a moment.
(Tina) I guess there will always be risks. Another obvious one being that we’d both get hurt all over again
Bette looks at her and Tina smiles.
(Tina) Maybe it will all come crashing down again
She shrugs.
(Tina) And maybe it won’t
She looks at Bette for a moment and then reaches towards her, taking her hand and smiling at her.
(Tina) Let’s find out for fuck’s sake
Bette laughs and squeezes her hand. They smile at each other for a moment, and Bette raises her eyebrows and nods.
(Bette) OK
They continue smiling at each other.
(Tina) So, what now then? Exactly?
Bette smiles at her and takes a breath.
(Bette) I think I’d like to take you on a date
Tina smiles back at her.
(Tina) I think I’d like that

So glad we have this story since B&T aren’t on the show right now. I enjoy your writing style.
I like that these two are finally talking. Taking responsibility for their own actions and attitudes and not playing the blame game. That generally gets you no where. I like that they look at the risk which they are taking and decide that the risk possibilities are fair low. And I like that the way forward is just an old fashion date. One step at a time… that is what life is… I have real hope for these two….

A honest talk and a date soon. There’s always a risk it couldn’t work out but if you don’t take risks you will never found out. About Angie, maybe they should keep it for themselves that they are trying to build a relationship for awhile. It must be confusing for her, years of not being on good terms and then hop in a relationship. Let’s do a few dates first before they talk with Angie or their friends.

My other favorite lines are when Tina told Bette she forgave her for cheating on her, and that it’s time she forgave herself, too. Perfect.
