    Author Notes: I was looking through my postings here & noticed that this chapter was somehow missing from this novel, so I've reposted it to be included. It seems like ages ago since this story was first posted. I have edited the other chapters as well & am posting the entire novel on AO3 too. Thanks to all of you who have read the original posting of this story.
    Summary:
    What transpires on the actual day of the election.

    Tina chuckled as she followed Bette to freshen up too.

    Election Results

    Bette and Tina joined everyone in the main ballroom of the hotel. The polls had just closed at seven pm and the first wave of results would be in shortly. The couple worked the room together, thanking everyone. They saw Maya from afar and Bette nodded to her, acknowledging that they knew she was there. Tina and Bette looked at each other, shook their heads, raised their eyebrows and then leaned in to plant a soft quick kiss on each other’s lips.

    Maya – witnessing the loving display, simply nodded back with a sad smile on her face. Forced to acknowledge her surprising defeat.

    When she was first assigned by her news editor at the TV station to cover the Porter Campaign, she had done her due diligence for her assignment and fully investigated Mayoral Candidate Bette Porter. Digging deep into Bette’s background, Maya discovered that professionally, Bette was an extremely successful businesswoman. Her business prowess had steadily grown through the years. Today, Bette Porter was independently wealthy. Maya also learned that Bette was associated with many powerful people in their own right; senators, business leaders and the esteemed Peabody family.

    But what intrigued Maya was Bette’s personal side. There was still a trace of that long ago legend of Bette Porter, the WeHo Lady Killer, The Queen of Lesbian Lovers.

    Every lesbian and some that weren’t that Maya had talked to in LA knew of The Bette Porter. Her reputation as the ultimate lesbian prize still very much alive. Maya was captivated most by Bette’s physical attractiveness – still smothering hot all those years later. Perhaps her maturity adding to the great allure.

    Bette Porter was still an extremely attractive woman. Maya had been determined to make a favorable impression on the business woman. She had wanted to explore a possible relationship with the brunette. Hell, she thought, they were both single, eligible and career driven. In her mind, Maya thought they were the perfect match.

    Of course she had discovered and heard the rumors that Bette’s long time relationship with the entertainment producer, Tina Kennard, was finally over. For years, they had separated and then gotten back together. But two years ago that all ended in divorce – this time finalizing the end to their long relationship. There had been an amicable divorce, leaving Bette free to actively date. But besides her ill-fated affair with Felicity Adams, Maya really couldn’t find much other information or gossip about any other love interest for Bette. That gave Maya great hope and she set her sights on the candidate.

    3. love these two women as you have portrayed them – such selfish love for each other. No one else will ever fill the need- desire in them like they both do for each other.

      I really like the family scenes, especially when Angie is finding her way in the world and her two mom’s are there guiding her along.

        I’m okay – sorta!! Ha!!

        Looks like I have a small fracture in my right shoulder from a fall – oops!! And of course I’m right handed – ha!
        Hopefully I won’t need surgery – follow-up with surgeon in another week.

        Anyway, this was a repost of this original chapter – there are a lot more chapters to this story. They’re listed above in the drop down box. It disappeared from the original listing – not sure why, so I reposted it. So, take a look if you need to catch up to get through the epilogue & sequel chapters.

        The entire novel just needs a final chapter to complete the story.

        I’m actually posting an update to DOH by tomorrow – so look for that.

          Both rotator cuffs have been injured on my “earth suit” and an assortment of aches & pains are hollering a spoiled toddler . . . but what can I do???

            Thanks for asking.

            Fortunately, the doctor discovered that I actually didn’t have a torn cuff – it was a small bones fracture & extreme inflammation with my arthritis in that shoulder.

            So, the pain has decreased & I’m doing mild therapy. So far – good.

            Enjoy that black beauty!!
