     Chapter 23 – The Wedding

Jeanette:  Well, Paris, are we going to eat in our bridal gowns or are we going to change clothes?

Paris:  Whatever you want to do my dear. I will do whatever you want. Our clothes are in my office and we can do a quick change if you like. Or we can wait until we have a dance in our dresses.

Jeanette:  We both have trains on our gowns. Why don’t we change. It’s almost time for dinner anyway.

Bette: I’ll ask that they not seat anyone until you’re back. Now, don’t take too long now. This is a hungry crowd.

Paris:  We won’t. We will be back in about fifteen minutes. We’re hungry too.

They took each other’s hand and headed for Paris’s office.

Bette:  Tina, let’s find a couple of chairs.  I have to sit down.

    Tina: How about James’s office?

    Bette:  That sounds good.

They went off, stopped at the lady’s room first and then went to James’s office.

Tina:  I don’t know about you, but I am going to have one dance with you and then I am ready to go home, have a quick shower and then get some zees.

Bette:  We are just getting old.

Tina: So how was it helping Paris.

Bette:  She was nervous, excited and ready to get married. She just didn’t have everything in place that needed to be done. The flowers were in the wrong place. The rings were not where they needed to be and they had not talked to Mary or to Kit and Sonny about their roles in the ceremony.  They hadn’t talked to them as to what they would do since they asked them to escort them down the aisle in July. Anyway, we handled all of that and we pulled it off.

Tina: And then they ran off the podium and forgot their flowers. And there you and I were with an arm full of flowers. I really wanted to laugh but I held it together.

Bette:  Well, if you and I have anything to do with another wedding, let’s recommend that there be a place to put the bride’s bouquet besides having the bridesmaid hold it and keep up with the rings. My exchange with Paris was a little awkward. I just pointed at her with the finger with the rings on it and let her take them off.  I had two bouquets and no way to remove them and give them to her.
