     Chapter 23 – The Wedding

John David:  Yes, I remember. That is actually exciting. And we will be picking up Joey on the way home, right?

Bette:  Yes, you will. Thank you, people for helping with breakfast. Tina, would you like to accompany me to the lanai?

Tina:  Yes, I would. Let me get some water for us.

    Bette: That sounds good.

Bette and Tina walk out and took a seat in the shade where they could see the pool and the rest of the yard. They chatted about various things and what the plans would be for the afternoon and tomorrow. Mostly they were quiet enjoying the sounds of nature. There birds and the occasional gust of wind. Mary and Margaret came out and announced that they were preparing some lunch. They would have ham sandwiches and some air fried potatoes and some cole slaw. They hoped it would hold them until the hor d’oevres at the wedding. Tina thought it would be fine.

Daniel, Angie and Suzanne had taken a swim in before lunch. Bette and Tina had gathered Angie and Suzanne’s laundry and caught up so they would have the minimum to do in the morning. Bette insisted that the girls have all their clothes clean when they packed their bags for the trip back to New Haven. Mary and Margaret made a quick trip to the grocery store to acquire the supplies Angie and Suzanne needed for school. They wanted some feminine supplies, laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet tissue, coffee, creamer and a few snacks. They also needed a case of water. This is what the girls both believed to be their immediate needs. Everything else, they would get later in the week. Bette would talk to Jim and see if he could help the girls get these to their room. Despite the rules, Jim along with Dot could be convincing and could get the rules bent for the purpose of getting these supplies to their room for Suzanne and Angie.

The family had lunch and updated Angie and Suzanne on the preparations for tomorrow. They all agreed that they would nap after lunch, then get ready and who would drive to the wedding. They all agreed that Angie would drive Margaret’s SUV and take Margaret, Mary, Suzanne and Daniel. Since both Bette and Tina were driving, they thought they had plenty of vehicles should some want to return earlier than others. There was a sense of excitement. Mary pulled Bette aside and asked if she could arrange to allow her to see Paris before the ceremony.  Bette agreed that she would see what she could do.
