Chapter 3 – Lets Make a Deal
Tina hugged Angie while Bette hugged Daniel. And they then hugged the other child and satisfied themselves that they were in good spirits and had had a successful day.
Angie: Well, did you guys find a car?
Bette: Oh yes, we did. In fact, we found two of them!
Tina: Yes, we did. And we brought them home and they are parked in the garage. Do you want to take a look at them?
Daniel: Really, sure. You bought two cars in one day?
Angie: We’ll let’s go to the garage then.
Bette and Tina followed their enthusiastic kids to the garage to see the two Ford Fusions. Once out in the garage, they both circled the cars and viewed the exteriors. Angie opened the driver’s door and sat in the driver’s seat on the ruby red one.
Angie: Wow, mom this is nice. I like the way this feels. Look at all the gadgets, and a backup screen, electric window and locks. I love this dark interior and the dark red exterior. Nice. Really nice.
Daniel: Who’s car is whose?
Tina: Why don’t you tell us?
Angie then got out of the red car and went and sat in the white gold metallic car.
Angie: Oh my, this one is nice too. Feel so elegant. And it has all the bells and whistles too. But neither one has a moon roof? Does it have a good music system?
Tina: I have no idea. We haven’t had them long enough to determine that. I’m sure it will be adequate.
Angie: Okay, my guess is that this white gold car belongs to Mama T. And the dark red belongs to Momma B.
Bette: Dan, what do you think?
Daniel: I agree with Angie. The light car belongs to Mama T. and yours is the other one.
Tina: And why do you guys think that?
Angie: Because the light-colored car looks like you and the dark red looks like Mama B. Both are really nice. I’m just surprised you guys didn’t get a BMW or Mercedes or a Saab even.
Bette: Your mom and I decided that we wanted basic transportation and not a luxury vehicle. We have a daughter going into college and our household is taking a big cut in our income. Therefore, we thought it would be better to buy something more economical.

Thank you.
Collins,
Isn’t that the way life is? Lots of things going on which requires multi-tasking? My Bette and Tina are on the same page… they have been working at it for more than 20 years. They know what irritates and what soothes the other. They know they have responsibilities for their children. And most of all, they love their choices they have made in life – each other as partners, their professions, and their role as parents. This is a summer of change for these two. New professions, new home and a some what different family structure. The transition from their New York life to a life in California is full and getting Angie ready for Yale is thrown into the mix. Time is limited and what needs to be accomplished is much. And these two women will get it done…
