    Chapter 3 – Lets Make a Deal

Bette:  Did you like your first car when you got it?

Tina:  The moment I saw it, I could not believe my parents bought me such a horrible monstrosity. But once I drove it and realized that it was mine, I feel in love with it.

Bette:  I think that was my reaction as well. It was not a cool car until I drove it. And knowing that it was so unique and it was mine, you couldn’t make me give that car up.

Tina:  I do not expect Angie to have the same reaction as we had. This is a new era and she has been raised in an environment where owning a car is not a part of the culture. And once she gets to school, things could change.

Bette:  What do you want to do for lunch?

Tina:  Well, we need to figure out how to get our new vehicles home and get this rental turned back in.

Bette:  Let’s do lunch then go shop for the third car.  Once we get that then we figure out how to get the cars to their proper place.

Tina:  Maybe we can pick the kids up and take them to have dinner with Kit at The Planet.

Bette:  Well, I don’t want them involved in any conversation we may have about Dad’s will.  By that point, Kit may have surmised how big a problem we have, if we have a problem at all. Angie has a bit of Alice in her and I do not want Paris upset until we know where we all stand. Hopefully I’ll have a better idea by the time we meet them for dinner on Wednesday night. But if I don’t then I’ll meet with her and Jeanette and let them know what is going on next week while you are in New York.

Tina:  I agree, the children do not need to be involved with your dad’s will. And Paris needs to hear this from you and Kit. And if we can all stick to facts, it will go a lot easier.

Bette:  Exactly. Just what are the facts?  At this point we just do not know. Let’s go see how Betty is doing.

They walked back to Betty’s office.  The insurance had been confirmed but she was still waiting on the bank.

    1. Collins,
Isn’t that the way life is? Lots of things going on which requires multi-tasking? My Bette and Tina are on the same page… they have been working at it for more than 20 years. They know what irritates and what soothes the other. They know they have responsibilities for their children. And most of all, they love their choices they have made in life – each other as partners, their professions, and their role as parents. This is a summer of change for these two. New professions, new home and a some what different family structure. The transition from their New York life to a life in California is full and getting Angie ready for Yale is thrown into the mix. Time is limited and what needs to be accomplished is much. And these two women will get it done…

      Thank you for reading.
