    Chapter 3 – Lets Make a Deal

Bette:  Okay, do you think that you can get copies made?

Kit:  I think I can get Sonny to run over to the Quick Copy Shop and get some copies made.  How many do you think we need?

Bette:  Get three copies at least and then put the original in a safe place like where you keep your business documents.  Then read one of the copies. The other two will be for me and for Paris when the time is right. Kit, I’ll be glad to pay for this.  There is no reason for you to spend your money.

Kit:  I can handle this cost.  But we will need to share the cost of a lawyer if we need one.

Bette:  Listen Kit, we are car shopping right now.  Tina and I will come by sometime this afternoon and pick all that stuff up. Do you think Sonny can get the copies made by say 2:00?

Kit:  Oh yeah.  He should be back by lunch anyway. He leaves for work at about 4:00.  I may or may not go to The Planet until this afternoon.

Bette:  Why don’t Tina and I have dinner with you at the Planet tonight and pick up those documents. Oh, and we have another favor to ask of you.

Kit:  Okay Baby Sis, what am I going to do for you now?

Bette:  Tina and I may buy Angie a car for her birthday.  We need a place to keep it until her birthday. So, could we hide it at your house until then?

Kit:  That I can do. Sonny is going to be thrilled. He loves surprises. And nothing would make him happier than to participate in a surprise for Angie.

Bette:  The salesman is back, so I need to go.  I call you later today about picking up those documents.

Tina:  The documents have arrived?  That was quick!

Bette:  You paid for expedited service and they have given it.  I just hope everything we requested is there.

Salesman:  Okay – For the two vehicles we will sell them to you for $28,000 but then you will need to pay for sales tax, title transfer, tags, and delivery document preparation. That will be an additional $2,210 for a total cost of $30,210.

    1. Collins,
Isn’t that the way life is? Lots of things going on which requires multi-tasking? My Bette and Tina are on the same page… they have been working at it for more than 20 years. They know what irritates and what soothes the other. They know they have responsibilities for their children. And most of all, they love their choices they have made in life – each other as partners, their professions, and their role as parents. This is a summer of change for these two. New professions, new home and a some what different family structure. The transition from their New York life to a life in California is full and getting Angie ready for Yale is thrown into the mix. Time is limited and what needs to be accomplished is much. And these two women will get it done…

      Thank you for reading.
