    Chapter 3 – Lets Make a Deal

Bette:  You have a deal. We will take it. Now what do we need to do to take possession of our vehicles?

Salesman:  I’m going to take you to Betty’s office. She is our sales clerk.  She will help you with the bank transfers and communicating with your insurance company. She will also take down all your information as to who to title the vehicle to, and where to send the registration and tags. This process is going to take about an hour to an hour and a half. She will then determine when you can drive your cars home. Hopefully by lunch time, you will have your vehicles.

Tina:  Thank you for all your help. We haven’t purchased a vehicle in years and this really exciting.

Salesman:  Well, you have selected a couple of nice cars which are going to give you years of service. Let me give you my card and if you should have any future needs, please give me a call.

Bette and Tina stood and shook his hand and he then took them to Betty’s office. Betty worked efficiently and emailed to Bette the sales invoice which Bette forwarded to the insurance agent.  She then gave the dealership bank account information and verified amount for the bank transfers.  Bette handled the transaction on her cell phone.  Betty believed that she would be able to verify that the money had arrived by lunch. She then filled out the sales documents and the government documents. While waiting for verification from the bank and the insurance agent, Tina and Bette excused themselves to get some more coffee. Both were smiling knowing they had made a huge step completing their move to California.

Tina:  So, what do you want to do about the third car?

Bette:  I think we go make a deal.  Now which color do you like?  The charcoal grey or the smoke black?

Tina:  I think the charcoal grey.  Is this what you have in mind for Angie?

Bette:  Yes, I do.  Now which car do you want to drive?

Tina:  Well, I think you should drive the ruby red metallic one and I should drive the white gold metallic and Angie will drive the charcoal grey metallic. I hope she likes it.

    1. Collins,
Isn’t that the way life is? Lots of things going on which requires multi-tasking? My Bette and Tina are on the same page… they have been working at it for more than 20 years. They know what irritates and what soothes the other. They know they have responsibilities for their children. And most of all, they love their choices they have made in life – each other as partners, their professions, and their role as parents. This is a summer of change for these two. New professions, new home and a some what different family structure. The transition from their New York life to a life in California is full and getting Angie ready for Yale is thrown into the mix. Time is limited and what needs to be accomplished is much. And these two women will get it done…

      Thank you for reading.
