Chapter 30 – Saturday with the Extended Family
Mary: Thank you Dear. Good night. And kiss Tina for me too.
Bette: You bet… good night.
Bette walked out of the room and was a little concerned even though her mother had repeatedly said she was alright. Tina was right outside the room waiting on Bette.
Tina: Is she okay?
Bette: She says she is. She just got suddenly sleepy and a little chilled. She is in bed now and seems fine. But, I’m a little concerned. If she is about to get sick, she does not need to get on that plane tomorrow evening.
Tina: What would we do?
Bette: I could call Paris and Jeanette to take care of her and allow you and I to go on to New York with the kids of course. She is not running a fever. Nothing else going on which is unusual.
Tina: Well, then let’s let her sleep and see how things are in the morning.
Bette: There is one other thing… I should let you know.
Tina: What is that?
Bette: She sleeps in the nude. Just be aware of that if you go check on her during the night.
Tina: Okay… thank you for telling me that. You don’t object do you?
Bette: Oh, no. Whatever she is comfortable with in the privacy of her own room is fine. I just would hate for you to get the “full Monty” as a surprise. Nothing wrong with sleeping nude. Personally, I love it.
Tina: Yeah, but you have been known to be a “do as I say, not as I do” person every once in a while.
Bette: Noooo…
Tina: Oh yes. But that is not the case this time. Relax, Babe, everything is fine.
Bette: Let’s go update the kids.
Angie and Daniel were waiting in media room with water and were anxious to hear about Mary. Bette assured them that she was fine at the moment but they would reevaluate things in the morning. She passed the message on that she was really sorry to disrupt their evening. Perhaps they could go during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Angie: Just want Grandmama Mary to be okay. And especially since we are flying to New York tomorrow.
Daniel: We won’t have to postpone, will we?
