Chapter 35 – Labor Day and More

Daniel:  That’s because she looks at cooking as an art.

Tina:  Humm… I hadn’t thought about that. But that makes sense for Bette. I had always thought Bette looked at cooking as a means to provide for her family. She has always taken her role as being a provider and a nurturer seriously.

Daniel: She really is a good mama. She made me feel a lot better yesterday. You did too.

Tina: Son, do not ever be embarrassed about loving your family. We know how much you love Angie and she loves you. She has since you were a tiny little baby. In fact, she was under the impression that your sole purpose in life was to be her very own live baby doll. And Bette and I were just around to take care of you since she was too little. It was hilarious in the beginning. But she became a little pain in the neck when she would yell at us to change your diaper or to hurry up with that bottle. Thank goodness she started to school about that time and she became a little distracted from her total concern about your well-being.

Bette walked in with her dirty clothes and saw that Tina and Daniel were busy making the breakfast.

Bette: Good morning, Daniel.  Good morning, Tina. Something smells good.

Tina:  Breakfast will be ready in about 5 minutes. The coffee is ready; help yourself.

Bette:  Can I have my morning kiss first?

Tina stopped what she was doing and turned to give Bette her morning kiss and then turned back to finishing up the eggs. Daniel helped plate the food while Bette went to sit at the table. They joined Bette at the table and began their breakfast.

Bette:  I see the pizza box in the trash. Did you finish that off?

Daniel:  Yeah, I did. I had a run and a swim and I was hungry.

Tina:  Well, that is why it was in there.

Bette: We are going to have to start an exercise routine, too. Maybe we can swim this afternoon and take a run on the beach tomorrow morning. I think your restricted activity period from your surgery is now up. What do you think?

Tina:  Sounds good. We have a few things we need to do today. We need to call Angie and Mary this morning. We need to go to the grocery store, catch up on the laundry and we need to talk about what our week day schedule is going to be. I’d like to be home when you guys get here.
