Chapter 36 – First Week of School
Now… let’s talk about what we are going to cover and why you should take this class or a class like this one…
Bette dismissed her class about 15 minutes before it was scheduled to end. George and Grace told her that they were rather impressed with her teaching style and her straight forwardness with the students. Bette then released them and told them that they would see them at the afternoon class.
Bette returned to the office and had a couple of messages. One was from Tina.
Tina was wishing her the best with her new class. She also had a text from Angie saying she had attended her first classes and she was pleased with what she had experienced so far. Daniel too had sent a text. His first class was science class. He really liked his teacher and thought it would be a great class.
Bette’s messages were from Kit and Paris and Jeanette. All wishing Professor Porter great success.
When Bette walked into her office, she saw a huge bouquet of yellow roses. Bette was shocked as she went over to her desk and picked up the note. These were flowers from Mary wishing her the best. Bette called Tina and talked to her about the flowers.
Tina: Oh, how sweet. I should have sent you some flowers. Falling down on my job of being a thoughtful wife.
Bette: No, you are not. You have been right with me every step of the way. And seeing your face in my bed has been enough for me. As long as I get my good morning kiss and my goodnight kiss, flowers are totally unnecessary.
Tina: I think it’s wonderful that Mary sent you flowers. Now everything going okay?
Bette: Nothing to it. I’m going lunch and then I have another class this afternoon. I’ll talk to you later.
Tina: Yeah, Jim is supposed to be here any minute. We’ll talk later. Love you.
Bette: Love you too. Bye.
The second half of the day went pretty much as the first half of the day. Bette picked Daniel up at 4:00 pm. He had first music lesson. The class was an introduction to all the students on the protocols of how the lessons would operate. They chose the violin for demonstration purposes. Daniel had tried to apply what he had seen for 30 minutes to take up time until his mom was due to arrive. Daniel talked a mile a minute about his violin. He loved it. He was having a little trouble with his fingering but felt that he would get it soon. Next Monday would be his guitar lessons and that would be a one-on-one lesson.
