    Chapter 37 – Daniel’s Weekend

By the time dinner time rolled around, Bette and Tina were tired. And they knew they had to back track a short distance back to the New Orleans area for their restaurant. They decided to go shopping for a souvenir for their trip. John David wanted to get a t-shirt for his mom, his dad and his brother.  He chose a golf shirt just like Daniel. John David wanted a red one and Daniel choose a blue one. Both had the Disneyland insignia on the left breast. They were pleased with their purchases. Bette paid for them and they all went to dinner.

The menu at the restaurant was not extensive.  John David seemed nervous about ordering his food. Bette leaned in to him and talked to him.

Bette:  You are hungry aren’t you, John David? Do you see anything you would like to have?

John David: These prices are so high. And I am too old to order from the kid’s menu.

Bette: John David. You are our guest. You order whatever you would like on the menu. Would you like to have a steak tonight? It looks good. Maybe some Gumbo Fries as an appetizer? Now they may be a bit spicy. If you don’t want spicy, we can ask if they can just do some plain ones for you? Or you can have a salad.

John David: I would like to have just some plain fries and a steak with the mash potatoes and the vegetables. I don’t want the onions. And if I could get that cooked medium, that would be great.

Bette: And how about some Louisiana Lemonade to drink? And if you have room, we will get you some dessert as well, okay?

Daniel:  I think I’ll have the same Mom, but I want a salad instead of the fries. And I will have my steak cooked medium rare. And I will take the onions. And that Louisiana Lemonade looks good.

Tina:  I was noticing that. It does look good. Bette, are you going to order for the table?

Bette:  Certainly. What would you like Dear?

Tina:  I’d like the house salad and the market fish – however the chief wants to prepare it.

Bette:  Sounds good to me but I want the Jambalaya. It’s been a while since I have had a good Creole dish. And lemonade all around?
