    Chapter 37 – Daniel’s Weekend

Once they were off the ride, Daniel commented that it was more of a ride for little kids. But he did enjoy it. John David then pulled him aside and said they just needed to do something that would be calming for his Mama B.

John David then suggested that they get on the Monorail and go to the Star Wars Out Post. And there they would see some light sabers and possibly some fights and ride a transporter. Bette had been a Star Wars fan and was anxious to see what they would exhibit. And she like the idea of the monorail. It had been a Disney attraction for decades.  Tina loved the way the park had been set up. It was reminiscent of a stage set but more elaborate so they could control the crowds of people. It was also built with the idea that it would be there for years and not just a few months.

After the visit to the Star Wars Out Post, they decided to get a mid-morning drink and snack for the boys. They then went to Tomorrow Theatre which was a 360-degree surround screen and watched a film produce particularly for that theatre. This particular film was a travel film of America which showed various scenes of flying over the Rocky Mountains, riding in a wagon in the farm bridges in Vermont, marching in a New Orleans Mardi Gras Parade, being on a football field in the middle of a game. It was an amazing pieced of filming. It took 8 cameras filming at the same time in a tight formation and then to synchronize each film so that the pictures would all line up and show the same scene. Tina was blown away by the technology. She knew that these films were more expensive to produce than anything she had ever seen in her life. The projectors showing the films were expensive to produce and the film work itself would probably cause nightmares to those who worked on it. But for Tina this theater was worth the entire trip to get to see this.

Bette:  I thought it was certainly a funny type of theatre when there were no seats to sit in. Just a bar to lean on and hang on to. But when the film started, I thought it was pure genius. That was an amazing film. You could look in one direction and see where you were going and look to the sides and see what you were passing and look to the rear and see what you just passed. I really felt I was in that wagon and on the plane. My mind could feel the motion I was seeing.
