Chapter 38 – Last Week at Redondo Beach

The two finished putting away all the clothes. They decided to go downstairs and take a tea break. The supplies from the beach house had been transferred to this house. They noticed that Jim was still there and had been placing the patio furniture in their appropriate place and making some notes. Bette and Tina grabbed some water and walked outside to take a look.

Tina:  Jim, this looks wonderful. Do you want to show us around? Or is it too soon?

Jim:  I put the set of hand trucks in the laundry room. It’s will be easier to carry those laundry basket’s upstairs. I see they are full of soaps and shampoos.

Bette:  Yeah, we purchased laundry baskets at the beginning of the summer to help us with our laundry chores. We decided to bring them with us along with all the bathroom supplies we has bought. We are taking a break.

Jim: Well, come look around; this is your outdoor furniture. It’s all made of treated fabrics to resist fading and mildew. Clean up with a little soap and water and can withstand a pressure washing. The frames are an iodized heavy gage aluminum.  Light in weight but sturdy enough to hold up to 400 pounds on a chair and 1,200 pounds on the sofas. I did a variety of fabrics, each complementary within each group. Attractive without being overwhelming. The fabrics are comfortable to the skin in that it allows air to circulate through the fabric to keep the skin from feeling sweaty or sticky. But it is soft enough not to be abrasive. All the chair either rock or swivel. The swivel chairs rotate 360 degrees. The rockers are what we call a soft rock, as perhaps you would rock a baby. Some of the sofas are stationary so they are good for a nap and some are on gliders which simulates rocking. I did put a couple of hammocks in the yard. They allow two-person occupancy easily. But the elderly or extremely young or the infirm should probably stay away. It takes some acquired skills to safely get into and out of a hammock. There are a variety of tables in each grouping. Some are standard table height and are good for eating, some are cocktail table height and there are some end tables for convenience to put drinks and so forth. I have ordered an outdoor bar with some shelving, but it won’t be delivered for a couple of weeks. It is movable so you can set it up in the yard or under the cover or in the cabana outdoor area. It is a dry bar. But it has an ice bin and a place for a dump bucket.
