Chapter 38 – Last Week at Redondo Beach

Jim:  I have not done anything about the front porch yet. But this would fit nicely out there.

Tina:  Jim, I think this is fine for right now. Now, would you like to join us in some tea. We have some more boxes and things to organize and then we are going to go get some food, a shower and some rest.

Jim:  Is this your last night at the beach house?

Bette:  No, we are going to try out that Murphy bed at the studio. Daniel is spending the night with a friend and we have no beds here until tomorrow.

Jim:  Wow, that is convenient. Well, let me know how it sleeps. I laid down on it before I left. I believe you are going to be very comfortable. I may want to talk to you about putting one in your study and one in the sitting room in the cabana. That would give you two extra beds in the event of a large crowd over for whatever reason. They may have to share baths, but you would be prepared for almost anything.

Tina: Oh yeah, Welcome to the Hotel California. You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.

Jim:  Who you invite to stay and how many is up to you. I just want you to think about your options.

Bette: I appreciate that, Jim. Let’s see how tomorrow goes and give us a day or two in the house and we will talk again.

Jim: I am so impressed with that Murphy bed idea. I am planning on putting one in my house. My wife’s children sometimes come and visit and the grand kids need some place to sleep. And a pallet on the floor is getting a little old. And a Murphy bed in a sitting room or a study simply makes a lot sense. Small footprint and ready when you need it. And it is not obvious that it is a bed. It looks like a very nice cabinet.

Tina: Sounds like that is a very good idea for you. Let us give this a little thought. Let me get the tea.

Bette: Come on, we can sit at our new dining table.

Bette and Tina severed the tea and continued to talk with Jim. The patio looked so very different with furniture. Jim said he put some furniture on the master suite balcony. He would let Bette and Tina see it by themselves and give him their thoughts when he came in the next morning. He would be at back at 7:00 am.
