Chapter 38 – Last Week at Redondo Beach
Tina: Oh wow, I can’t wait to see it. Maybe we can have a Christmas luau or a New Year’s pool party.
Bette: Yeah, and then walk to the beach and watch the fireworks.
Jim: Only in California, right?
Tina: It would be a bit chilly if had tried that in New York.
Jim: Let’s go look at your sun room. That is where you are going to have your family dining right?
Bette: I hope so. I think it would be fun to have a family dinner looking out over the back yard and pool.
They went into the door in the room. There was an oval shaped table with eight chairs in a solid-colored fabric in a medium green color. The fabric was almost the color of the walls in the formal sitting room. The table was a smooth plexiglass with a hammered look plexiglass underside. The top had been coated with a clear leucite which gave it a shine and depth almost like water.
Jim: This is a standard table and top. If this is not to your liking, we can have one custom made to your specifications. We can inlay shells or geoids or precious stones if you like. But I thought you might want to have something right away since you were moving in and this was available and is quite serviceable. We can also have a matching piece of granite to your counter tops cut and mounted on the table. However, that is going to make moving the table around difficult. This is a nice tile floor, but it will need mopping from time to time.
Bette: Oh, I think this is fine at least for right now. Tina and I will discuss it and if we decide we want something else, we will let you know. I like this. I think we have some table cloths that would fit it if we ever want a little more formal look.
Tina: Oh, I think this is fine. Let us live with it for a while and we will let you know. What do you think about the chairs and fabric, Bette?
Bette: Its good. If we decide we want something else, we can add it to our outdoor collection. We may could put it on the front porch as a sitting area.
