    Chapter 39 – Moving Weekend

Tina:  Do you think we are going to blow through our budget?

    Bette:  What budget?

Tina:  Yeah, we couldn’t budget this part of it could we?

Bette:  Nope, and we added some stuff like replacing all the linens and upholstering a bunch of our old furniture. My bets are we spend a million dollars between moving and furnishing this house.

Tina:  Wow, that’s a lot more than I figured.

Bette:  We have the money and this is our last move, so why not. We made a lot more on the sale of New York than I anticipated. And then Melvin came through with a big surprise.

Tina: Has Daniel given you a list of his preferred middle schools yet?

Bette:  No. Let’s give him a deadline.  We need the list by breakfast Tuesday morning. I want the application ready to go by mid-October. Hopefully by then we will know something about Angie’s plans for next year by then as well.

Tina:  Yeah, if we are going to buy some property, we need to get started as soon as we can. It may need some remodeling or upgrades.

Bette: Yeah, and since we may be going to Scotland in August, we need to have her moved in and ready for school by the end of June. That is a house, furnishings and a vehicle and her wardrobe. Plus, roommates in place and ready to go.

Tina: My bets are that Suzanne will not be one of them. She is on a full boat scholarship and she may not get housing money if it’s off campus housing. And if she continues her on campus job, it may not be convenient for her not to live in the dorm.

Bette: Well, let’s think about that and see how Angie feels about that too. I would like for Angie to have roommates she gets along with than to have to roll the dice every time she gets a roommate. From what she says, they only see each other in the evening when they are doing homework. Let’s see how a couple of weekends go. They may be perfect roommates just not going to be close friends.

Tina: Good suggestion on dinner. Are you ready to go get some work done?
