    Chapter 39 – Moving Weekend

Tina: Morning Babe. I think we over slept.

Bette: We slept the right amount of time. Our bodies needed the rest. The mirror tells me that we are not spring chickens. More like old hens.

Tina:  I feel like an old hen. But it’s time to go scratch around in the kitchen.

Bette: Yep, time to get moving. I need some coffee.

They dressed and made the bed and headed down the stairs. Tina prepared them some breakfast sandwiches while Bette scrubbed and chopped up some potatoes and carrots and onions to go in the roast. They then sat in the sun room and had their breakfast and coffee.

Bette: When do you think Daniel will be here?

Tina: I think he’ll be here within an hour or so. I hope he’s had some rest.

Bette: Okay, so let’s go ahead and put on the roast and let’s make some cole slaw and some green beans.

Tina:  Yeah, that sounds good. I can just steam the beans and season them. That should make a good meal and there will be something left over for me to have a couple of lunches. Maybe we can have some roast beef sandwiches with some air fried French Fries and cole slaw and maybe some carrot salad. I hope this roast puts out plenty of au jus.

Bette: Sounds good to me. Let’s get with it.  There are boxes upstairs that need to be emptied.

Bette and Tina worked in the kitchen to complete the meal for the evening. They put the slaw and the carrot raisin salad in the fridge. And finished cleaning up and started the dishwasher.

Daniel was knocking on the back door. Tina ran and let him in. She was apologizing for him not having a key. She welcomed him home and invited Barb and John David in.

Barb: I know you are busy, so we won’t stay long. We just wanted to say hello.

Bette:  Well, did you guys have a good time?

John David:  It was great. Oh, look you guys have a pool. Cool.

Tina: Well, maybe you can come and swim sometime once we get settled.

Barb:  Has your furniture not arrived?

Bette:  All of it has arrived, it’s just we don’t have enough to put into all the rooms. We are going to have to buy some. But we do have our bedrooms in place and a dining space. Give us a couple of weeks, and we will have these rooms furnished. But John David, we will arrange for you and Daniel to have some time to swim in the near future.
