Chapter 39 – Moving Weekend
Daniel: Oh, I don’t mind. After all, it’s my stuff. And who knows better than me as where it should go.
Bette: We are going to be working out here in the new children’s lounge. We are expecting a technician to come and set up the television and the music. So, by tonight, that should at least be ready to watch movies. The wi-fi may not be up until tomorrow.
Daniel: Okay, this is a great room. It’s bigger than my room in New York. Bigger closet and bathroom.
Tina: Well, have fun.
Bette and Tina immediately began to open boxes and to discover what was in them. The hand trucks had been left to help handle the boxes. The first one was a box of books. Bette and Tina moved the box to the library and began to put books on the second shelf.
Bette: We need the step-ladder. We are going to need it to get on the top shelf.
Tina: I’ll go check in the play room. If not, it’s probably in the laundry room. We used it in the kitchen.
Bette: I’ll just unload this box. I’m just going to put the books on the shelf. We can organize them at some other time.
They found four other boxes of books and put them on the top and second and third shelves on in the library. The next boxes were CDs and DVDs and game DVDs. There were four boxes of those. They separated the DVDs from CDs and put on separate book cases. The games got their own two shelves. The rest of the boxes were lamps, knick knacks and linens (mostly towels). Bette and Tina unpacked and then when they got two for a room, would walk them to the appropriate room and set them up, plug them in and check to be sure they worked. For pictures and knick-knacks, they identified with room they belonged in and put them into a stack for that room. The towels and sheets, they got out of the boxes and simply stacked up by color. Their towels were white, Daniel’s were navy blue, Angie’s were a rose color, the guest rooms were green and beige. After seeing them all, she was actually glad that they would all be replaced. Angie’s towel she took to school were a light blue. She chooses those because they were as close to the Yale colors as possible. Bette took a couple of lamps down stairs and the linens for the green bedroom and a few of the knick knacks that belong in that room. Tina had brought up the laundry baskets from the laundry room to distribute to each room. So, Bette loaded up a laundry basket and stacked two on the hand trucks and headed down stairs via the elevator. Tina worked on Daniel and Angie’s room.
