    Chapter 39 – Moving Weekend

Charlie’s two trucks arrived at 8:30 which was about 30 minutes earlier than expected. Bette and Tina showed the crew around.  Bette talked to them about washing their clothes while they were moving the stuff in. The guys were a little hesitant, but Charlie told them to get their luggage and take it to the laundry room and empty all their dirty clothes into a laundry basket. And then put their luggage aside and then start the moving process.

Two of the guys got out their tool kits and began to take bedroom doors off their hinges and set them out of the way in closets. The doors to the access hall to the elevator was taken down and stored in one of the bedroom closets.

While two were removing doors, the other two were hanging moving quilts on the walls of the elevator. They were checking the weight tolerance and making sure the elevator could withstand the load. Once the house was prepped, they started talking about the sequence that the furniture would come off the truck. The boxes would come off first and be set aside on the driveway area until all the furniture had been unloaded and placed in rooms. They would then take boxes to various rooms as indicated. They hoped to carry multiple boxes destined for the same room on each load. They would fill the elevator with boxes and then move the boxes to their designated room. First question was where will the piano go?

Bette: The piano is destined for the 2nd floor in the alcove between the master bedroom suite and the front of the house.

Charlie:  Okay, so the piano needs be moved in first. I presume that you are going to have a sofa and a few other pieces of furniture in that same library area?

Bette: Yes. Might I recommend that the master bedroom furniture go in first then library, then the three bedrooms in whatever order you wish and then the playroom sofas and chairs, then the library area. On the main floor, the only things going down here are the dining room table, the dining chairs  and china cabinets, and the two bedroom-suits. One bedroom upstairs will not be getting any furniture today.
