    Tina spent time with the clerk doing the paper work, insurance cards, the identification cards and so forth.  The clerk agreed to give her a bill at the end of the visit. There would be three separate bills and all would indicate a preliminary status awaiting insurance response. Tina was satisfied with the response.

    Finally, the call came for Elizabeth, Christina and Angelica to proceed to Dr. Wilson’s office. Bette and Tina hugged Dr. Wilson in greeting.

    Tina:  Dr. Wilson, this is Angelica Kennard Porter.

    Dr. Wilson:  Well, you’re all grown up Angelica. It’s nice to meet you. Or should I say, it’s nice to see you again. It has been a while, what almost 18 years?

    Bette:  Yes, that’s right.

    Dr. Wilson:  Sit down.  Let’s get things started. Let me call Dr. Stanton. She is a new partner to our practice and she will be assuming my patients when I retire.  I plan on retiring at the end of December. I have cut back on my office hours in the meantime. But since you two are long standing patients, I really wanted to see you guys.

    Dr. Stanton entered the office.  She was a young black woman about 35 years old who looked a lot like Dr. Wilson in stature and in appearance.

    Dr Wilson:  I want to introduce you to my daughter, Dr. Sylvia Stanton.  She will be assisting me with your examinations today and will be consulting with Angelica while I consult with you Bette and Tina. Now, I understand that Angelica is going off to college in the fall?

    Angie:  Yes, Dr. Wilson. Yale.

    Dr. Wilson:  Smart like your moms.  Okay, well Dr. Stanton will be doing your examination and consulting with you on pregnancy prevention and STDs. If there is anything else which needs to be discussed, then Sylvia will discuss it with you. I’m going to excuse you Angelica and Dr. Stanton to start your interview and examination.

    Dr. Stanton:  Nice to meet you Bette and Tina. Mom’s really excited to see you again. I know she will take real good care of you. Angelica, would you like to come with me?
