Bette:  That’s wonderful.  Here is my credit card.

Daniel pulled Tina aside.  He had spotted a nice back pack in brown suede leather which he thought Angie might like.  He asked if Tina would help him purchase it as a birthday gift for Angie. Tina saw a matching purse and decided to get that as well to be from her and Bette. This would be a diversion from the gift of the car. They did not want to appear to have not remembered her birthday. Tina told Daniel to talk to the sales person while she told Bette to get Angie out of the store.

Bette:  Angie, there’s a shoe store next door.  Let’s go take a look.

Bette then winked at Tina and walked out the door with Angie.  Tina then dealt with the purchase of the new backpack and purse.  Tina asked that they be gift warped in two separate boxes and have the price tags removed. Daniel was really pleased with his selection and really grateful to his mother for making the purchase possible. Tina could tell that her son was really happy with this gift. Daniel’s ability to see beauty and utility at the same time was unique for a child his age. She attributed the ability to see beauty from Bette and utility from herself, and he had equal measures of both.

Tina:  Come on Daniel, let’s put theses in the trunk and then go rescue Mama B.  Angie will want to buy the store out by now.

Daniel laughed:  That’s for sure. We better hurry.

Tina went into the shoe store and saw Bette and Angie arguing over a pair of shoes.

Tina:  Hey, you are not allowed to buy. You can only look. Angie, remember? We are shopping in New York next week. Come on you two. We do not want to be late to dinner.

Bette smiled and mouthed “Thank you”. Tina got tickled and started to giggle. Tina patted her wife on the butt as she passed by with caused Bette to gasp a bit. They made their way to the car and were on their way to the restaurant where they were to meet Paris and Jeanette.

Tina:  Now what did you buy and ship to New York?
