Chapter 4 – The Doctor Visit

Bette:  Daniel’s idea.  We bought two rolling clothes racks to transport Angie’s hanging clothes to New Haven.  We will put them together and then load them with the hanging clothes. Then we will wrap them in commercial grade plastic wrap to keep them clean.  And here is big idea.  We rent two guys and a truck to load Angie’s stuff from the New York apartment and then drive it to New Haven and then move it into her dorm room. Then we as a family help organize Angie into her new digs and then we go have lunch and enjoy an evening in New Haven. Angie can spend the night in our hotel suite and we will deposit her back to her dorm on Sunday morning and then we head back to New York. We then get the red eye flight back to Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Tina:  That’s brilliant. We won’t have any heavy lifting and all those stairs to negotiate. And your guys will have hand trucks to handle boxes and those trunks and the rolling clothing racks. Wow.  I love it when a plan comes together. I am feeling so much better about this move.

Bette:  These guys will have to load at about four o’clock in the morning. Even through it’s a Saturday, they will need to be out of Manhattan by six o’clock.  I figured they can drive part way, stop and have a big breakfast and arrive in New Haven between 8 and 9 am. And once unloaded, they can be back home by noon. We will follow in a rented car. We will be in New Haven at 8:00 am to get Angie’s dorm assignment and we will get Angie settled and we will have the afternoon to go buy her an initial supply of snacks and survival foods and get those stored away.  We then go have a nice dinner and then to our hotel rooms for some family time. Oh, put on your to do list – Angie’s food service starts on Tuesday morning. So, she will need some meals for Sunday and Monday. And she needs to have enough to share with her roommate. I have been left at my dorm with a day or two with no meal service. Those days were pure hell.  I was starving by the time meal service opened.
