Chapter 4 – The Doctor Visit
Bette: Absolutely.
Paris: I’m really looking forward to being a weekend parent.
They both walked back into the dining room where the table had finished up their appetizers and were ready to order their main entrée. Tina was looking at Bette and could detect a bit of sadness in her demeanor but she was not distraught.
Tina: Are you okay Babe?
Bette: I’m fine. We’ll talk later.
Tina: I’ll put you on the agenda right after Angie.
The waiter came by and asked if the wanted another round of drinks. Bette wanted a bottle of Pellegrino and Paris got the same. Tina ordered a glass of wine and so did Jeanette. They then ordered their main entrée.
Bette: Well, I have made an appointment for a potential school for Daniel. Its Whittington Elementary.
Jeanette: Oh, that is a really good school. Congratulations Daniel. That’s a good choice.
Bette: They offered to test him to see if he can proceed on to the sixth grade. The other school which responded did not make the same offer, so I declined an interview.
Tina: Bette has a potential employer who is interested in her becoming a Professor in their School of Fine Arts.
Bette: The key word is potential.
Paris: Oh, what school?
Bette: UCLA
Paris: Whoa… that’s huge! Professor Porter. Has a nice sound to it.
Bette: Well, don’t bring out the champaign just yet. There are several more steps to go before anything is for sure.
Jeanette: I think Whittington Elementary is near the UCLA campus. That would be convenient. You could take Daniel to school and possibly bring him home.
Tina: Oh, Jeanette are you looking into guitar and violin lessons.
Jeanette: Yes, but I was waiting until he had a definite school arrangement. With distance and instructor are key factors on who we chose. If he chooses Whittington, then there are a lot of options. There are some music lessons which are actually taught at the school after hours. Let me know as soon as he registers and I’ll line something up definitely.
Bette: Yeah, and we are probably going to need help with selecting some proper musical instruments.
Daniel: Maybe we can do that next week?
Bette: We’ll see. I may have an interview. You have an interview. We have a doctor’s visit and we need to get you some school clothes. So that leaves only one day to get done whatever we need to do. We may need to put off that until the next week.
