Chapter 4 – The Doctor Visit
Tina: And we bought a couple of cars this week. They both used cars with less than 20,000 miles and we got a really good deal on them. I love the way mine handles.
Bette: The colors look like us.
Paris: What did you get?
Bette: A 2018 Ford Fusion in ruby red metallic and a 2019 Ford Fusion in a white gold metallic. We opted for something economical rather than a luxury vehicle.
Paris: Well, I’m impressed. You’ll blend in with all the student vehicles.
Bette: That’s the point. I don’t want a vehicle that everyone is going to drool over and then decide they want it for their very own without my permission.
Jeanette: She has a point. Her car will be one among many.
Tina: And if it gets banged up in the student parking lot, well, we won’t feel like we just lost half of its value. It will still be basic transportation. We plan to drive these cars until they die.
Bette: Once we get the kids educated and on their own, then we may get something a little more luxurious. We may only need one vehicle by then. I’ll be retired and poor Tina will be stuck with me.
Tina: And you will be stuck with me. And I’m going to love every minute of it.
The meal was served and everyone was all smiles.
Jeanette: We have decided where we want our wedding.
Tina: Oh, where?
Jeanette: We have decided to have it at the Porter Art Gallery. It’s going to be a small intimate affair with no more than 30 people so I think we can have a ceremony and a sit-down dinner and everyone will to comfortable.
Bette: I think that is an excellent choice. You can close it to the public for the weekend. Set up on Saturday and clean up on Sunday. Excellent.
Tina: Who’s going to run the gallery while you are on your honey moon?
Paris: James is going to run it. James knows the business and customers. He knows the inventory and he has a gentle demeanor which most people just love.
Bette: James is an extremely good employee. He is such a good guy, too. I need to go by sometime this summer and say hi to him. I didn’t have much time with him at the cookout.
