Bette:  And there are worse scenarios than the one Tina just talked about.  There are those who scope out a crowd, pick a target usually a pretty young lady and then offer them a drink has some drug in it. By the time they have drank half of it, the target has passed out. The aggressor helps the target to a bedroom or empty room, removes her clothes and rapes her while she is unconscious. Maybe then he gets his buddies to come rape her as well. Next day she wakes up and has no idea what happened to her. Or worse she remembers some of it of but being in a semi-conscious state is powerless to do anything about it.  Maybe she remembers walking in the door to the party and that’s it.  Rape is a horrible experience and it is not about love or sex or any of the things that you want to be present when having a sexual relationship.  It’s about control and it is violence. Usually, the victim is damaged for years and has a great deal of difficulty forming relationships of all kinds. It takes therapy and a lot of work to get that out of your nightmares. Sometimes these women are so afraid, they drop out of school just to survive. You see, they have no idea who did this to them. Everyone they see could be a perpetrator.

Tina:  So, how do you avoid being a victim of one of these type events?  First of all, know who you are with. Never go to a party or an event alone. If you don’t have a date, go with a group that will stay together and make sure no one in the group gets in an uncontrollable situation.  Never accept a drink that you don’t make the person who is giving it to you does drink from first. Or take their drink and drink theirs instead of the one they offered you.  Limit your drinking, know your limit.  And when someone in your group has too much, get them out of there. Go to a party early and leave early. Once everyone gets really drunk, you are not going to find you one true love in that bunch. If you are with a date and they want to stay and you are ready to go, tell them to get you a cab or walk you back to your dorm and they can come back. The only time a bunch of drunk people are any fun is when you are drunk yourself.  If you feel the need to get sloppy ass drunk yourself, do so with a small group of people you know well and you trust with your life. Because that is what it might mean if you run across a predator.  And my advice is never to have sex with anyone who is not in control of their faculties.  You will not enjoy it because they will not be able to perform very well. If they cannot pass the legal drunk test, they will make piss poor lovers. And you should never have sex unless you are control of your faculties as well. If you do, your responses will be slowed, you can feel your arousal factors and it will be over before you get warmed up. With the right person, sex is fun, exciting, and fulfilling. With the wrong person, it might be exciting and fun the first few times, but soon it gets somewhat mechanical and boring and not much fun. Forced sex is assault and a horrible nightmare.
