Chapter 4 – The Doctor Visit
Tina: For a romantic relationship to develop, the attraction must be mutual. The other person needs to want to be in your company, want to hold your hand or kiss you. Now the normal way to find this out is to ask them to go participate in some activity together. For example: Hey Bette, do you want to join me for a cup of coffee at the student union?
Bette: That sounds great Tina. I’ve haven’t had my quota of coffee today. Or Tina, there’s a dance at the Grove on Friday night, would you like to accompany me to the dance?
Tina: No Bette, I’m sorry, I already have a date to the dance.
Bette: Well, maybe next time.
Tina: I’m really sorry Bette. I would really rather go with you but Billy asked me yesterday and I said yes.
Bette: Now do you see what happen here? Tina already had another date, but Tina communicated that she would rather be with me. So, I need to ask her to do something else with me so she can say yes.
Bette: Tina, do you play tennis?
Tina: No Bette, I’m a runner. I usually get up go to the track at 7 in the morning to do a few laps. Why don’t you join me say tomorrow morning or the morning after?
Bette: Yeah, I could do that. Shall I bring coffee?
Tina: No, I need water after I run.
Bette: Water it is. See you tomorrow.
Bette: You start out with simple things. A cup of coffee, meet for lunch at the student union, get together and study for a few hours, go for a walk in the park. And if these simple things go well and you interest increases, then you go for the dates which cost money like movies, dinner at a nice restaurant. But if the interest is there, then an opportunity to kiss each other will occur.
Tina: And whether you are dating a male or a female, you really need to get permission for the first kiss. And if it is a girl especially, if you do not know if she is into women or not, then you really need to get permission to kiss her.
Angie: How do I ask permission?
