Chapter 5 – A Day with No Plans
Tina: Sex is a natural part of life. It is an intimate physical connection with another person. And as a female, you need to know what it is you are expecting as a result of having sex. Is it physical release? Is it intimate communication or commitment meant to enhance a relationship? Is it for fun and excitement and something that is new and adventurous? And then is your sex partner of the same mind as you are? If they are not, then there is going to be some disappointment and possibly some heartbreak.
Bette: And one more thing which makes thing somewhat more complicated. Relationships are dynamic. By that I mean, as events happen and goes on, relationships change. People’s goals and desires change. There have been people who start out dating each other as two people who just to have fun and suddenly discover that they really have a potential partner in this person they are dating. This happens when two people get to know each other better and start to sharing time and experiences together. No two people are alike and no two people experience life in the same way. And in a new relationship, people experience a euphoria which is one of the most addicting feelings known to human kind. The human brain loves this feeling and it will do whatever to maintain that feeling. It will cause the human to see only which will perpetuate that feeling including things which would normally irritate the stew out of you if you were not under this spell of euphoria. It will affect your reasoning, your perception of reality, and cause you not to see things which others can see which you simply cannot. And as your mom, it would be my hope that you experience this but that you refrain from making a life time commitment until some of this euphoria begins to wane. When you make a commitment, you want to see things as they are and that your perceptions are grounded in evidence and understanding of reality. There are no perfect individuals. Everyone has their flaws and their positive points. But when you make a commitment for a life time, you should make the decision based upon what is and not what you wish it to be. For in the end, the only person you control is yourself.
