Chapter 5 – A Day with No Plans
Tina: Males of the human species generally mature later than females. They enter puberty later than women. Their bodies reach their adult height and structure later than women. Males have been known to grow several inches in their late teens where women reach their adult height at about 14 or 15 years old. Most females are finished with puberty by age 14 to 16. Some have their first periods at the age of 10 or 11 and have full breast by age 12 or 13. Males complete their full male parts development at age 14 or 15 and their full adult bodies as late as age 20 or 21. The primary hormone which stimulates sexual desire is testosterone. That hormone is present in both males and females but it is in abundance in males. Because of the abundance of this hormone, males are driven to seek sexual gratification over most other drives they have. Society has curtailed some of this drive in that it says to males that in order to get this sexual gratification, he must develop a relationship interest in order to receive sexual favors. And that works great for the society as long as the male is attracted to females.
Bette: Females on the other hand are wire to seek relationships. Females are though evolution know that in order to have food, shelter, protection from enemies and to have a family, she must have a relationship with someone who can provide those things. Therefore, from the time a girl starts to socialize with people outside the family, she is looking for those people who can help provide those things which will help her survive. Females generally develop strong friendships with both males and females in their pre-pubescent period. These are people who have common interest as she has whom provide her with friendship and common interest. These friends may be the defenders from the bullies or just the companionship of someone with common interest. By example, much of the society presents couples as one man and one woman. The man is the provider, the protector and the father of the children. So, about the time of puberty, most females then begin to be attracted to males either naturally or by societal pressures. This is the beginning of the search for the provider, protector and the father of her children. So, when most females have a romantic relationship, she is driven by this urge to find her provider and protector with the ultimate goal of having a family. Now she may not be consciously aware of this, but this is her evolutionary wiring. So, when most women have sex with another, they attach a lot more meaning behind this physical connection in that it is a part of a relationship or relationship building. Where the male when he has sex generally has no perception that this is related to a relationship but as a means to relieve his sexual tension. This is particularly true for males until they are in their mid to late 20’s and start to think in terms of settling down and having a family. Up until they start to think about settling down, they are commitment adverse for the most part. They are glad to be in a relationship, but they are not ready to commit to this being their last partner forever. They are wired to seek opportunities in which the grass seems greener until they get to a mature age. Females on the other hand attach quickly and are ready to commit for life when they think they have someone who is interested in them. Now this is a generalization. There are always exceptions. You will meet people who were high school sweethearts and have never slept with anyone other than their spouse and have been married to the same spouse for 60 years. And for every one of those people, there is a ten thousand people who did not marry their high school sweetheart or if they did, split up within 5 years after they did.
