Chapter 6
Tina laughs and Bette smiles at her.
(Bette) But no, we didn’t cover politics. Anything I should know?
Tina looks at her and shrugs.
(Tina) Nah
They smile at each other.
(Tina) Are you interested? Or is it all a bit much?
Bette sighs.
(Bette) It’s too much I think
Tina nods. Bette leans forward and picks up the bottle of wine from the coffee table and Tina holds up her glass as Bette refills it.
(Tina) I think if I have too many of these it defeats the purpose of me being here to look out for you
(Bette laughs) You’re fine Tee, you really haven’t had that much
They smile at each other as Bette resettles alongside her. Tina looks over at her affectionately.
(Tina) It’s nice, spending time with you like this
Bette looks to her and they smile at each other. Tina has a sip of wine and Bette continues looking at her, taking a breath before speaking.
(Bette) Can I ask what our dynamic is like now? How do we get on?
Tina looks over at her.
(Tina) No one’s covered that with you?
Bette shakes her head.
(Bette) No. I guess I haven’t really asked
Tina nods, and then frowns and looks to her drink.
(Tina) Well, it’s fine, I guess
(Bette) We manage things well with Angelica?
Tina meets her eyes.
(Tina nods) We do, that’s never been a problem for us
Bette looks at her for a moment.
(Bette) We’re not friends though, are we?
Tina shakes her head slowly.
(Tina) No, we’re not friends
Bette waits for her to continue.
(Tina shrugs) We speak when we have to. We’re civil, I guess. We’re reasonable in making arrangements with Angie
Tina has a sip of wine.
(Tina) We haven’t said a word to each other beyond what is necessary in years
Tina shrugs and Bette looks at her.
(Bette) It sounds terrible
(Tina smiles) It could be a lot worse. Honestly from where we were at when we broke up, it’s kind of amazing we manage that much
(Bette) Have we ever tried to be friends?
Tina shakes her head.
(Tina) No
(Bette) You haven’t wanted that?
Tina raises her eyebrows and looks at her for a moment. She then looks downwards, focusing on her drink.
(Tina) It’s you actually, you don’t want it
Bette frowns as she takes this in.
(Bette) Me?
Tina looks up and holds her gaze, taking a breath before continuing.
(Tina) Bette, you don’t like me very much anymore
Bette continues frowning as they look at one another intently. After a moment Tina reaches towards her and holds her hand to the side of Bette’s face.
(Tina) I know that you used to
Bette looks back at her and Tina smiles.
(Tina) That you do right now
Bette turns her head and lays a gentle kiss on Tina’s palm, and Tina takes a breath and closes her eyes.
(Tina) But things have changed for you
Tina opens her eyes and they hold each other’s gaze for a long moment. Bette searches her face as she tries to read her.
(Bette) And for you?
Tina smiles and withdraws her hand, holding up her index finger.
(Tina) Yeah, we’re not talking about that
Tina gulps down the rest of her wine and Bette watches her closely. Tina then turns back to her.
(Tina) Let’s go to bed
Bette raises her eyebrows and Tina smiles and lightly slaps her leg.
(Tina) Separately, obviously
They smile at each other, and Tina shakes her head as she stands.
(Tina) Goodnight Bette
(Bette smiles) Goodnight Tee
Bette follows her with her eyes as Tina walks from the room.

Great to see a new chapter!
So, it’s Bette who didn’t want to be friends all these years. What happened that they were barely civil? Do you follow the OG line of story, the one where Tina broke Bette’s heart by leaving her for Henry or did something else happen?
Maybe it’s a positive thing Bette lost her memory temporarily, they can discover each other again, be friends again and when Bette regains her memory they will have not a big fall out about it, at least i hope.
Looking forward to read the next chapter!
Yesssss a new chap!! Here we go with slow painful build. Win her back, Bette! :)
Okay… so what does Bette now know? She knows that in the current time she is not interested in being friends with Tina. They are civil in handling Angie, but that is about it. But she has no idea how this came about and she is really reluctant to get any more of the story than what was told to them by the gang. What an impossible situation? How can people make reasonable decisions without knowing the background which put them where they are at? Bette’s determination not to be friends with Tina has to have some impact on Tina’s choices. This is going to take a while to work out… even if Bette’s memory suddenly comes back. So let’s see what happens next.
Thanks for the chapter…
Enjoyed the chapter . Looking forward to the reason they broke up
Yay to another chapter! Can’t wait to see where this story goes.
Agree with Martha, Bette should have asked questions, especially since Tina stated that Bette doesn’t want to be friends in the present.
I hope they can solve their issues and reconnect in a positive way.
Love this take to your story so much! With a girlfriend and a fiancée in the mix. Will we learn more about Tina while they are on their own? I hope that Tina’s status isn’t very engaged anymore without anyone knowing yet. And “Jules”? She will return sooner or later, right?
Looking forward to the next chapter. Thanks for posting!
