    Week later, Los Angeles
    June 2006

    The drive back to LA was a blur. Tina was so worried about what Professor Kroll will say that she couldn’t even enjoy the beauty outside. Summer was approaching and the fields were blooming with wild flowers, bringing multitude of colors to otherwise barren hills. Tina’s eyes glimpsed over the fields but she was too distracted to appreciate the beauty of the nature.

    Alice’s usual chatter was somewhat calming because it didn’t involve anyone’s participation. Alice could have long and meaningful conversations all by herself. Tina used that time making plans in her head and thinking of any clues that would help to figure out how to get Bette back. She really hoped that Professor Kroll would give them some good news. She didn’t want to dwell on the fact that the portal might be sealed and Bette was never coming back. Or worse, the portal is still open but Bette didn’t want to come home because she had her Christina back.

    The panic settled in like a heavy fog on a fall morning. Tina took a few deep and slow breaths to calm her erratic beating heart. The thought of losing Bette to another woman was inconceivable. Not that she would blame anyone for wanting to be with Bette. She was gorgeous, kind, smart, sexy and classy. Tina still pondered what Bette saw in her because she had always considered herself somewhat plain, a girl next-door, pale in comparison to sexy and exquisite Bette. But for some reason Bette fell in love with her and Tina hoped that their love was enough to bring Bette back home.

    Just as they pulled into Tina’s driveway, Alice’s phone rang. “It’s Professor Kroll,” she whispered as she answered it. “Alice Pieszecki…yes, of course…absolutely no one…maybe another friend…yes…no, sir…ten pm…it’s a matter of life and death…yes, sir…see you at ten.”

    She hung up the phone and everyone looked at her expectantly. “He wants to meet me in the alley behind some sleazy bar on Sunset Boulevard.”

    “Are you serious?” Tina shook her head in disbelief.

    “Nah, just kidding. He’s giving a lecture on electro-magnetic fields at the UCLA and wants to meet after in the study room, around ten pm. Just me, though. This guy is seriously paranoid about something.”

    10. Happy to see a new chapter of one of my favorite tibette fics! Despite the long absence you still haven’t lost your touch, I can feel Tina’s sadness and longing for Bette and Alice still never failed to crack me up. But I’m with skycaptain, I know Bette loves Tina so much but she knows her sister died while giving birth and she has the pills that can possibly save her life yet she threw it away so she can go back to her future. I find it hard to believe that Bette is capable of doing that but she has her reasons I just thought maybe there’s other way to save a life without altering the future or without having any negative impact. Can hardly wait to see what’s gonna happen next so PPVVS! Still your fan… phacey
