Out of Closet (TiBette time-travel romance), Ch. 63

“Well, we all had to start somewhere, Al. That was your niche and that’s what made you famous in certain circles.”

Alice sighed, “I know, but ten years? I could’ve been a journalist like Diane Sawyer or Barbara Walters.”

“These are big names, Alice, with lots and lots of experience.”

“Dream big, Tina. That’s what Pulitzer Prize winners made of.”

“Are you dreaming of Pulitzer Prize?” Tina had to smile. Alice was such a big child sometimes.

“Yep, in investigative reporting…or because I will write a big American novel,” Alice had a dreamy look on her face. “I can see my future self, on the stage, getting the award, and my former editor is dying from envy.”

“Okay, lets focus on the present before we get to the future,” Tina shook her head with a soft laughter. She put another microfilm into the reader and went through the images, until a headline caught her eye, “Funeral attended by a prominent Orange County family, the Porters…” Tina quickly turned off the reader, in shock, afraid to read any further.

She looked at Alice who was still reading her own article and said quietly, “I just found something. Katie died, Alice. Bette must’ve been so devastated. She loved her big sister so much. I was sure that she would find a way to save her.”

“Maybe she couldn’t do anything or decided not to do anything because it would upset the universe and change the future, or something,” Alice put down the magazine. “It is scary to think that whatever is happening out there might be changing the future as we speak.”

“I know. I’m afraid to even look at it but I need to know what’s happening so I can be prepared.”

“Probably wouldn’t make a difference. That’s not something that we can control.” Alice looked at her watch and gasped, “Oh crap, look what time it is. Just make a copy and we can read it when we get home. It’s time to go meet the Nutty Professor.”

    Meanwhile, in another dimension

    Place: Orange County, CA
    Year: May 1886

Bette went outside, craving fresh air and needing time to think. She felt like she had so much on her plate, her head was ready to explode. Her beloved sister and her first love, both ready to give birth, and she knew how it was going to end in both cases. Fear grasped her heart and she was having hard time breathing. Bette leaned against the tree beside the front porch when she heard soft steps behind her. She took a deep breath, wiping unwanted tears and turned around.

    2. You posted!! Welcome home!! It’s great to see you haven’t lost any momentum with this story. It’s always been one of my favorites and it still is! Thanks for coming back and I’m thrilled to hear you are going to continue to write!!

    3. Thanks for posting. I can’t believe she’s going to let her sister die though. I hope she can make her way back to Tina soon because I’m not sure how much more Tina can take.

    4. I’m so glad you’re back.
I always loved this story, and I can not wait to find out what happens to them. I hope Bette can return soon to Tina .

    5. Happy to see a new chapter of one of my favorite tibette fics! Despite the long absence you still haven’t lost your touch, I can feel Tina’s sadness and longing for Bette and Alice still never failed to crack me up. But I’m with skycaptain, I know Bette loves Tina so much but she knows her sister died while giving birth and she has the pills that can possibly save her life yet she threw it away so she can go back to her future. I find it hard to believe that Bette is capable of doing that but she has her reasons I just thought maybe there’s other way to save a life without altering the future or without having any negative impact. Can hardly wait to see what’s gonna happen next so PPVVS! Still your fan… phacey
