Out of Closet (TiBette time-travel romance), Ch. 63

It was all there in Christina’s eyes. Love, friendship, promises of forbidden love and unspoken desire. Bette always felt drawn to Christina, to her quiet strength and beauty. She knew that Christina would not take the first step and it would be up to her to make that final decision. All Bette had to do is to ask herself, ‘Who had mattered more to me than anyone else in the world?’

Christina was her first love, with familiar beautiful face and familiar hazel eyes, familiar and beautiful but not the same. She admired and adored her but it could never compare to what she felt for Tina. Bette knew that this indeed was her past and her life and her heart belonged to the future.

“Yes, I do want to go back. More than anything.”

    Week later, Katie Porter house
    June 1886

Bette and Maxine stayed at Katie’s house in a spare bedroom, knowing that she could give birth any day now. Melvin visited as much as he could, when his business was slow. Christina came every day, accompanied by Daniel who was as devoted and dotting as ever. Bette could see the adoring and loving way he was looking at his wife and it made her feel better about leaving, comforted by a thought that Christina will be loved and taken care of.

One day Bette woke up before sunrise and went outside, welcoming the early summer morning breeze. She felt suffocated being stuck in the house, waiting for the birth of her niece or nephew. While she loved spending time with her family and Christina after being away for so long, she craved some solitude and physical activity. So she decided to go for a walk in the woods.

She remembered venturing in those same woods as a child, same woods where she got lost and met Clarice, the oracle or witch…or both. Bette giggled remembering her most terrifying meeting, when Clarice scared her half to death with her looks and riddles.

“Wouldn’t it be surreal to see her again?” Bette asked herself quietly. She wished she had a flashlight or something but she had to navigate by the dim light of the moon. In the dark the trees and their moving branches looked like something out of the scary movie and Bette kept checking behind her, feeling like a little child who was afraid of the monsters.

    2. You posted!! Welcome home!! It’s great to see you haven’t lost any momentum with this story. It’s always been one of my favorites and it still is! Thanks for coming back and I’m thrilled to hear you are going to continue to write!!

    3. Thanks for posting. I can’t believe she’s going to let her sister die though. I hope she can make her way back to Tina soon because I’m not sure how much more Tina can take.

    4. I’m so glad you’re back.
I always loved this story, and I can not wait to find out what happens to them. I hope Bette can return soon to Tina .

    5. Happy to see a new chapter of one of my favorite tibette fics! Despite the long absence you still haven’t lost your touch, I can feel Tina’s sadness and longing for Bette and Alice still never failed to crack me up. But I’m with skycaptain, I know Bette loves Tina so much but she knows her sister died while giving birth and she has the pills that can possibly save her life yet she threw it away so she can go back to her future. I find it hard to believe that Bette is capable of doing that but she has her reasons I just thought maybe there’s other way to save a life without altering the future or without having any negative impact. Can hardly wait to see what’s gonna happen next so PPVVS! Still your fan… phacey
