She moves on from a particular group and takes a moment to take in the room. She scans her eyes over the crowd and admonishes herself on realising she is again searching out every blonde. She sighs to herself and picks up a wine from the tray of a passing waiter as she continues walking around, greeting various people as she makes her way around the space.
She stops still when her eyes land on a particular blonde standing with her back to her. Bette’s eyes trace the curve of the woman’s shoulders and down her back, over her hips and down her legs. She is certain it is her, but silently reminds herself of all the other times she has been certain these last few weeks.
At that moment the woman turns and moves from the group she is standing with and makes her way over to read a nearby description of the exhibit. Bette catches her profile and feels her breath hitch.
She stands still watching her for a moment before taking a deep breath and making her way across the room, positioning herself beside her and just out of Tina’s line of sight. Bette places her hand lightly on Tina’s lower back and Tina turns to face her.
As she turns and they lock eyes, Tina feels a familiar tightening in her chest at again seeing the beautiful brunette who has also captivated her thoughts these last two months.
They stare at each other for a long moment, both lost in each other’s eyes.
(Tina smiles) Hi
They stay in that position for a long while, both overwhelmed with the rush of emotions they are experiencing upon seeing the other again.
Tina eventually catches herself and snaps out of the moment. She composes herself and frowns.
(Tina) Bette, what are you doing here?
Bette is thrown by Tina’s dismissive tone. She removes her hand from Tina’s back and looks at her.
(Bette) Ah, well, this is the Bette Porter gallery. And that would be me. Bette Porter
Tina looks at her in shock.
(Bette) I guess we never exchanged last names, did we?
Tina looks around uncertainly.
(Tina) I guess not
(Bette) Are you visiting LA?
