Tina continues to look around the room.
Bette examines her for a moment.
(Bette) Is everything ok?
Tina focuses her gaze back on Bette
(Tina) Not really. Is there somewhere private we can talk?
(Bette) Ah, sure. My office?
Tina nods and Bette leads the way.
They enter the office and both stand facing each other. Tina takes a deep breath in and a large gulp of the wine she is still holding.
(Tina) I really didn’t expect to see you again
(Bette) OK. I thought it might be a good thing to see me again, but it seems not?
Tina looks back at her.
(Tina) You live in LA?
(Tina) I asked you where you were from, you said Philadelphia
(Bette) Well I am from Philadelphia
Tina raises her hand and rubs her forehead.
(Bette) Tina what’s going on?
(Tina) I also live in LA
(Bette) Again I would think that that’s a welcome revelation?
They look at each other for another moment.
(Bette) Have you recently moved here?
Tina is looking off past Bette, trying to gather her thoughts and speaks distractedly.
(Tina) No I always lived here. Well for the last year I’ve lived here
Bette looks at her in confusion.
(Bette) I guess I’m missing something here
Tina looks at her for a long moment.
(Tina) Bette, I’m not gay
Bette looks back at her.
(Bette) Sorry, what?
(Tina) You heard me
Bette looks at her, perplexed.
(Bette) Ah, ok that’s a little confusing. Not just from the time we shared together.
Bette frowns at her.
(Bette) I seem to recall you actually telling me you were gay
(Tina) It was something I was trying but it wasn’t for me
Bette looks at her for a long moment.
(Bette) Wow you must be really into heterosexual sex
Tina chokes while taking another gulp of her wine and Bette tries unsuccessfully to suppress a grin.
Bette hands Tina a tissue and she wipes the wine from her chin.
They both compose themselves and look at one another seriously again.
Tina eventually breaks the silence.
(Tina) I’m here with Andrew Rhys-Baker
Bette takes a deep breath and leans back on the edge of her desk.
