    (Bette smiles) Sure They say their goodbyes and Bette returns to the kitchen where Shane and Dana are sitting at the island bench finishing their drinks. Bette smiles at them as she makes her way over to the sink and gets a glass of water. (Dana) You don’t mind Alice going tonight? And not you?

    (Bette smiles) Sure

    They say their goodbyes and Bette returns to the kitchen where Shane and Dana are sitting at the island bench finishing their drinks. Bette smiles at them as she makes her way over to the sink and gets a glass of water.

    (Dana) You don’t mind Alice going tonight? And not you?

    Bette looks at her over her shoulder and smiles.

    (Bette) No, not at all

    She turns to them and shrugs.

    (Bette) Attending work functions together is definitely not part of what Tina and I are doing. I like her getting to know you all though. I’m sure they’ll have fun together

    Bette smiles.

    (Bette) And I think Tina knows by now what she’s getting herself into by inviting Alice to something like tonight

    Shane and Dana both smile and nod, and Dana checks the time on her cell.

    (Dana) Well I better be off, I have an early training session tomorrow

    (Bette smiles) OK

    Dana hugs her goodbye and Bette turns to Shane.

    (Bette) Stick around for a while if you want. I’m going to sit by the pool a bit longer, join me for a drink?

    (Shane smiles) Sure

    Dana gives them a wave as she makes her way to the front door.


    A short while later, Bette and Shane have settled on the sunloungers and are both sipping on a beer. Shane turns to her in a quiet moment.

    (Shane) I’m not going to drill you about it, but I’m sitting right here if there’s anything you want to talk about

    Shane has another sip of beer and looks out over the water, and Bette smiles at her.

    (Bette) We can talk about it

    Shane looks to her and nods. They look at each other for a moment, Shane examining her and taking in Bette’s smiling eyes. Shane laughs.

    (Shane) Well with that look on your face I’m not sure I really need to ask how it’s going

    Bette can’t keep the smile from her face and Shane smiles as she watches her.

    (Bette) It’s amazing

    Shane raises her eyebrows and her smile broadens.

    (Bette) She’s amazing

    Bette shrugs.

    (Bette) I’m just, I don’t know… really fucking happy

    (Shane) Wow

    (Bette) Yeah

    Bette has a sip of her beer.

    1. It’s a great story and i love the development of it.

      It’s casual and both are fine with it, i do wonder when one of them is going to expect more. Because let’s be honest it already seems like a real relationship to me.

      Looking forward for the next chapter!

    4. Okay… so this is a relationship which is not a relationship??? Well, I guess that works great… at least for now. So there are no ties and exclusivity… no long term planning depending on how you determine what long term is. And most of all no commitment. Just do what feels right for the moment… okay… And I guess if there is ever a conflict, well, just deal with it in moment on an individual basis. Sharing of one’s life is not required, purely voluntary. Input or advice from one another is not require… as there is no relationship. And as long as you both play within the boundaries, life is good. Okay… So why the jealousy from Miss Tina in the prior chapter??? Me thinks that the desire for a commitment is not that far away from either of them.
