I Will Not Let You Fall
The brunette contemplated. ”Maybe.”
Tina lowered her gaze. ”Is it still the only solution?”
”Uh-huh,” the brunette uttered, insinuating by all the apathy written in her demeanor that she didn’t like the direction this conversation was heading.
”Is there a possibility of you leaving without me?”
”Nope,” Bette said, hiding the hurt caused by that mere suggestion behind a mask of nonchalance.
But Tina could see through the facade. ”It’s not that I want you to leave and myself to stay in LA. I want to go with you, with all my heart… But I can’t… Please, you have to understand me…”
”I understand you,” another impassive, although honest response from the brunette.
”It’s just that… I just want you safe. I can sense some danger approaching.”
”Oh, so you’re a psychic now,” Bette smiled, devoid of any warmth, as she opened her eyes and stared at Tina.
Keeping her patience, the blonde ignored the sarcastic remark. What she was about to say carried high-risk potential, but she had to say it. Biting her lower lip in trepidation, Tina proclaimed, ”It’s not so much about sensing this danger as about what Helena told me…”
A muscle twitched in Bette’s jaw. There was a moment of silence in which the feigned indifference in her eyes hardened into coal, her voice, however, was low and steady as she spoke, ”I do not want to hear that name coming out of your mouth ever again, especially in my presence. Whatever that was said to you by that individual I want nothing to do with. Deal with it on your own. Is that clear?”
Tina swallowed and averted her gaze, discouraged. ”Yes.”
Repulsed and provoked by being reminded of Helena and Helena’s successful influence on Tina, Bette felt an overbearing urge to push Tina off her lap and tell her where to go. But she knew how wrong it would be given the current situation, so she desperately tried to suppress the urge. ”Fuck, Tina…” the brunette breathed out the fumes of frustration, covering her face with her hands. ”Why must you ruin everything? I don’t want to talk about all this. I just want to spend the day with you since you’ve been working so hard at limiting your contact with me. I just want to have some peaceful time with my girlfriend before she decides to make herself scarce again. Is it really too much to ask?”

Hi Valerie:
OH, MY GOD, this chapter is amazing, and very hard for me, I needed a cup of tea and cookies to read it, during my lunch break in my job; you made it so real, like watching the movie.
I think that finally, Bette touched bottom I hope she won’t fell farther, and she could start changing things, she needs to think in a wisdomly way; Arnodelo is looking for her, and her only choice is to make a deal with the prosecutor and give away Armodelo and his cartel and gang; she has some money she needs a very good attorney; she has to start thinking about a new begining with Tina, after she pays her bill to society (which I hope will be low, with the help of a lawyer) to the system; anyway, the people she killed were criminal, and she didn’t kill the girl, Miranda, that was killed by Dominic and Arnodelo.
Wow, Valerie, the story is very good, I hope the end would be very good also.
Thank you so much for the wonderful and spine-chilling chapter.
I’ll be anxiously waiting for the next one, pps.

Wow! Thank you for an amazing yet very tearful (for me) chapter! I was hoping beyond hope that Bette was an undercover cop but it doesn’t look like it! Anxiously awaiting for next chapter! By the way you are a great writer!
That was a great ride. Thanks
Hope, Tasha is alive – not to add to all other charges against Bette. Shane is a great friend indeed. And Tina is a bit of a disappointment to me. Maybe she is just too young to fight for her love. So its a big question, who will not let fall whom…
Thanks for the great story! That’s definitely not the end yet, is it?
