I Will Not Let You Fall
Shane rolled her eyes. ”Get your melancholic, pessimistic ass out of my house,” she retorted in a feignedly serious tone.
Bette chuckled and sipped her coffee.
”Here you are,” Tina’s voice came from behind the two women.
Bette turned around to see her drowsy girlfriend approaching. ”Hey, sleepyhead.”
”Good morning, Tina. Slept well?” Shane asked.
”More than,” the blonde smiled sweetly as she sank onto Bette’s lap.
”Oof!” Bette grunted in exaggerated discomfort. ”You’ve gotten heavier, Tee.”
Tina opened her mouth, drawing in an indignant breath. ”I have not!” she let out, playfully smacking Bette’s arm.
”Been eating you pain away, huh?” Bette mocked on, sweeping her hand down the curve of Tina’s back to cradle her hip.
”At least I don’t look like a bag of bones.”
”See how well we complement each other,” Bette simpered, pecking Tina on the shoulder.
”Looks like Shane managed to lighten your mood,” Tina remarked, threading her fingers through Bette’s hair, smoothing the unruly curls back.
”I had too, or else she’d be swallowed up by a quag of misery,” Shane teased.
”Sounds like her,” Tina played along.
”Enough,” Bette scolded them with good nature.
Tina tittered, eyeing the austere expression on Bette’s face fondly.
Shane cleared her throat and got to her feet. ”Okay, I’m gonna head out. You guys make yourselves at home. Bette, be in touch, I’ll call you later.”
”Mhhmm,” the brunette mumbled.
After Shane left, Tina shifted position by turning toward Bette fully and straddling her thighs while Bette relaxed further back into the deckchair.
”Do you have plans for today?” the brunette asked.
Tina bit her lower lip. ”Mom and dad are hosting a small party at home in honor of Steve and Lindsey’s marriage, so I’m supposed to show up…”
”Oh,” Bette averted her eyes. She had hoped to spend the day with Tina. Swallowing her disappointment, she tried to enjoy whatever amount of time Tina was going to be with her today. ”How did the wedding reception go yesterday?”
Tina smiled. ”It was amazing, they were so in love.”
”Well, I’m really happy for them. They’re meant for each other.”
Silence fell upon the couple, each woman sinking deep into thought.
”We’re meant for each other too,” Tina blurted out suddenly, her sad gaze fixed on the fabric of Bette’s bathrobe.

Hi Valerie:
OH, MY GOD, this chapter is amazing, and very hard for me, I needed a cup of tea and cookies to read it, during my lunch break in my job; you made it so real, like watching the movie.
I think that finally, Bette touched bottom I hope she won’t fell farther, and she could start changing things, she needs to think in a wisdomly way; Arnodelo is looking for her, and her only choice is to make a deal with the prosecutor and give away Armodelo and his cartel and gang; she has some money she needs a very good attorney; she has to start thinking about a new begining with Tina, after she pays her bill to society (which I hope will be low, with the help of a lawyer) to the system; anyway, the people she killed were criminal, and she didn’t kill the girl, Miranda, that was killed by Dominic and Arnodelo.
Wow, Valerie, the story is very good, I hope the end would be very good also.
Thank you so much for the wonderful and spine-chilling chapter.
I’ll be anxiously waiting for the next one, pps.

Wow! Thank you for an amazing yet very tearful (for me) chapter! I was hoping beyond hope that Bette was an undercover cop but it doesn’t look like it! Anxiously awaiting for next chapter! By the way you are a great writer!
That was a great ride. Thanks
Hope, Tasha is alive – not to add to all other charges against Bette. Shane is a great friend indeed. And Tina is a bit of a disappointment to me. Maybe she is just too young to fight for her love. So its a big question, who will not let fall whom…
Thanks for the great story! That’s definitely not the end yet, is it?
