Her phone vibrated in her pants pocket and she fished it out. An unknown number was flashing on the screen. Supposing it was someone calling about work, Tina groaned and began putting the phone back into her pocket, but then gave in and answered.
”Yes, speaking.”
”Tina, hi. It’s Bette.”
The voice made Tina shoot up straight. Her hand reflexively flew up to her chest as she felt heart almost leaping out of her throat.
”Oh, um… Hi,” the blonde stuttered nervously.
”Sorry if it’s late. You said we had to talk. I’m calling to see if we could meet tomorrow or any other day in case you’re busy tomorrow.”
Tina swallowed thickly as her eyes darted around the room, wide with disbelief. ”Um, yeah… I mean, yes, tomorrow is fine,” she uttered, wincing at how messy she sounded.
”How about we meet at this cafe in Downtown – Janet’s Coffee Shop, at noon time?”
After another pause used for putting herself together, Tina answered, ”Sure.”
”Okay. See you tomorrow then,” Bette said and hung up.
Tina pulled the phone away from her ear and stared at it in stupor. ”See you tomorrow,” she let out, after a moment, in a low, stunned tone.
The bathroom door opened suddenly and Brenda walked inside, making Tina jump slightly.
”Tina, what’s wrong, baby?” the woman questioned as she eyed her girlfriend closely. ”You’re not yourself today. I’m worried about you.”
The blonde rose to her feet and stood in front of Brenda. She waved her hand as if she could make Brenda’s concerns drift away like smoke. ”It’s nothing, honey. I think I’ve just had a little too much wine and uh, the work has me really exhausted. So…”
”Do you want to go home and sleep?” Brenda asked softly, placing her hand on Tina’s cheek and caressed the skin with her thumb.
Tina lowered her head and nodded. ”I do.”
”Alright,” Brenda murmured. ”Let’s go.”
As Brenda began guiding her out of the bathroom, Tina stopped her for a moment and made her turn around. ”Hey…”
”What?”
”Kiss me…” the blonde whispered, the child’s fear in her watery eyes.
Brenda’s brows furrowed a bit. She hugged Tina to herself and then kissed her in the lips. Their kiss lasted for several seconds before Brenda inched away. ”Are you sure there’s nothing wrong beside the work?”

Ok, so Tina has long-term girl (thanks god she’s not Helena), but she’s not in love in her. It’s good. What’s not so good that her parents obviously like her girlfriend. And what’s bad – how Bette was cold during their meeting and how quickly she left. I just hope Bette will agree for next meeting with Tina.
So, waiting for the next!

Thank you for this wonderful chapter.
Wow, it was very easy to vanish the ten years of separation between them; after trying to move on and make their lives with other people, just one encounter and their hidden feelings came back, it couldn’t be different, their love was very intense, a love forever.
But if their love and life together ten years ago was hard due to Bette’s criminal life, and Tina’s fears and family situation; to pick up the pieces and glue them together now, won’t be easy.

Thank goodness, Helena is gone. I’m glad Sam is just friends with Tina. I don’t think I would have been able to stomach them together. LOL. Bette seems a lot more sexier, with her more bruting and mysterious self. I’m siding with Bette right now. Thank you so much for the update. I’ve been looking multiple times a day, since your last update.
Geez so heart wrenching. Tina seems on the out side to have moved on with her life but on the inside she’s a mess..Shes still living the next day ten years back when Bette told her to never come back…nothing has changed for her. Bette was in a bad place when she said it but she really didn’t mean it. She just didn’t want to hurt Tina or bring shame to her by being in that place. She loved her enough to let her go. The love is still there now if they can just get out of their own way and talk., they will find their love again. Thank you very much enjoying your story.

Wow, what a meeting! The tension is palpable from the page. I”m glad Tina kept in touch with Mrs. Carol and kept the property taxes paid. Now, how do they reconnect? Brenda is doomed to lose Tina. What an emotional ride? Keep posting and we will keep reading !
